There is a jumper on the MD 212 overpass over I-95 near laurel. Both the northbound and southbound lanes are currently shut down.

What am I supposed to think? This person could be literally keeping thousands of people from getting to their destinations. I think it is pretty pathetic for him or her to screw up the plans of thousands with his or her hangups. If this person really is mentally ill, I truly feel sorry for him/her.

We had one of these guys involved in some kind of child custody case (he was a criminal, the mother a saint, and the judge said the mother should have the kid while daddy was in jail).
He shut down the Wilson Bridge (Virginia to Maryland) for most of a day.
He threatened to jump into a mud flat.
The cops claim they didn't know if he was armed or not, so they couldn't snipe him out of the way, nor could they just run over and grab him.
Hundreds of thousands of motorists were stopped. There were heart attacks, anxiety attacks, people urinated on the roads, lunches were eaten in cars, it was horrible ~ but the uniform refrain from everyone was "jump, jump, jump" and it was directed AT THE COPS!

Update: northbound I-95 was reopened around 10 pm when the potential suicide shifted position on the bridge. However, both loops of the Beltway are backed up for about 2 miles due to the jumper. Local roads are clogged due to people trying to escape I-95.
I think they said the jumper is actually on the Old Gunpowder Road overpass, which is just north of 212. This situation could go on indefinitely.
