An 8-week-old Jack Russell terrier mix puppy is recovering after he was found tortured and abandoned next to a dumpster in Pueblo.
The puppy appears to have cigarette burns on his body and was spray-painted when he was found behind a convenience store along Highway 50.
A store employee found the puppy and called Pueblo Animal Services, which treated his injuries.
"His wounds seem to be healing and he's eating better all the time so we're hoping another week or so and he'll be ready to go," veterinarian Keith Lorensen told KOAA-TV.
The dog has been named "Trooper" by animal services workers.
The investigation into the dog's abuse is continuing.
i wonder if it is PETA activists again.
So sad...I have a JRT myself.
Absolutely agreed. How anyone could do such a thing is beyond my comprehension.
I am glad to hear the puppy is recovering. And thank God for the convenience store employee who found him in time.
And an eye for an eye before their sent there.
their = they're
Whoever did this is a serial-killer-in-training. Sick.
Whoever did this will likely grow up to beat and abuse their Wives and children as well.
ooooh you are SO much closer to the truth than you have any idea! Scary when I see stories like this. Truly. If they find the person responsible for this, they need to think LONG and hard about what drove the person to those acts.
I agree. Maybe that special corner where computer hackers/spammers should be.
This kind of behavior in young people is an important predictive marker of serial murder in later life.
I don't dare show this article to my wife. She would take one of my guns out of the safe and go looking for somebody!
ping
hang the perp high.
If I was in charge of things, people who do things like this would be fed to vicious pit bulls slated for euthanasia, as a last meal. Aside from the obvious benefits of inexpensively ridding the world of dangerous psychopaths, there would be a certain justice, since most really vicious pit bulls got that way as a result of deliberate mistreatment.
That's it. I'm putting you in charge of things. Go get 'em!
Bump.
It's very sad when innocent animals are tortured.
After seeing the movie My Dog Spike a few years back, I've grown fond of the JRT. Cute little dogs.
They are incredibly smart, but they are a real handful. Mine is actually allergic to human "dander". He has injections once a week. Strangely enough, my husband is allergic to canine "dander"...yes, he has shots too! Ironic, huh?
