NYT: Lance, who?

Posted on 07/25/2005 9:32:13 AM PDT by TRY ONE

Did anyone notice that the NYT was one of the few newspapers that did not fully cover Lance Armstrong's world record endeavors?

Could the reason be that Lance is from Texas, that awful place where GW calls home.

What if Lance was from, say New Jersey? Would he have been given more press by the NYT?

If he was gay he'd have the whole front page.

John Kerry said Lance would make a good political candidate, but was afraid he would be for 'THE OTHER SIDE'. Maybe that's why the NYT is ignoring him.....he's a closet republican?

Maybe the fact that its a bicycle race played a part in the relatively scant coverage.

Wasn't his picture on the front page of the Times today (Riding down the Champs d Elysee with the Arc 'DE Triumph in the background)?

As I recall, Mr. Armstrong pulled for Kerry last November. I may be wrong and hope that I am, but if I am correct, the NYT would not be shunning him because he is from Texas.

Irrespective of what is politics are, he appears to me to be the toughest man in the world.

If they didn't "fully" cover it, how much did they cover?

His leftist girlfriend is his problem if he decides to run for office as a republican. Would you have voted for Bush if he were married to a Hillary type? Same difference. Crowe is a left winged anti-war, anti-American liberal.

Front page above the fold. How much more coverage do you want?

Huh? There is a 6" x 10" color photo of him on today's front page.

Have you heard this Rush Limbaugh parody commercial about the evils of Texas and Rove?

I believe you are wrong. I believe he has said supportive things of the president to the press. Although why anyone should care what a bike riders politics are is beyond me. He could go to communist party meetings for all I care and it wouldn't change the fact that what he has done is one of the more impressive athletic feats ever.

You're right about that! A couple of months ago, the NYTimes ran an article about "being gay in Iraq". Talk about being obsessed! Who the devil IS having a good time in Iraq these days? Only the NYTimes could run an article like that without being ironic.
