Michael Change, down but not out against Ivan Lendle in the French open. So physically messed up that Michael had to serve underhand.

I thought Sean Elliott's comeback was pretty good.

Tyhey broke my heart when the did it, but I have to say the 1986 Mets.
Two outs, nobody on, facing the loss of the Series, yet they won the game and later Game Seven.
Ironically, I would also say the Red Sox in the AL Playoffs of the same year. Facing elimination in Game Five, down three in their last at-bat, they rallied to tie it, and Don Baylor hit simply one of the most improbable home runs in baseball history.
Those are two of my favorites.

I don't agree with the criteria used by SI to define a "comeback." It should be based upon sporting events (games) and not on personal adversity.

USC - Notre Dame, 1974. . .
Notre Dame breaks out to a 24-0 first half lead, only to be buried under a Trojan avalanche of 55 straight points. Final score -- USC 55, Notre Dame 24.
Anthony Davis ended Ara Parseghian's coaching career that day.
