That's one of the reasons I love living in the South. I've held the door for a lot of women here and have never been 'attacked' for it. Many ladies will act overjoyed and lavish you with praise for being so respectful. The only place I suspect I'd run into the kind of unfeminine foolishness you've described is on college campuses, which I try to stay away from anyway.
I do have to point out, though, that there are different ways to 'hold the door' and some of them may strike ladies as being creepy. Obviously, if you see an attractive lady coming at 500 yards away and stand there waiting for her with a big stupid grin on your face, then yeah, that could seem a little weird. :)
By the way, this thread isn't a practical joke. I doubt the Mods would let that fly.

I'd be happy to have a guy hold a door open for me. It's a rare thing to see a guy open a door for a lady around here, but if they do, it's usually the older gentlemen who do so.
