The Single Freeper Intro Service (Shameless Vanity)
The Impending Marriage of Cyborg and Petronski | 22 July 2005 | Army Air Corps

Posted on 07/22/2005 7:15:51 AM PDT by Army Air Corps

Last night, many of us read the thread wherein Petronski announced his coming marriage to madame Cyborg. (Check DRUDGE: Unnamed Senior White House source: Cyborg and Petronski to be married...). During the course of the Cyborg-Petronski Thread, the subject of a Free Republic feature wherein single Freepers can meet their fellow conservatives.

I have a simple proposition. We could start a regular thread akin to the Freeper Canteen. Such a regular thread could serve as an opportunity for single Freepers to engage in Virtual Mingling. Also, any Freepers who have single, conservative offspring would be welcome to participate so as to arrange for introductions for their kids.

Special note to Jim: Just think of how many conservative would not have met fellow right-minded folks had it not been for FR! Cyborg and Petronski owe you one.

Thanks! If you know any classical spanish/mexican dances, then go for it!

Uh, yeah, I know 'em, that's the ticket; just give me enough wine (or politely ignore my flask depending on the flavor the wedding is), and I'll dance at your wedding!

Now, series-ly, you 2 boys behave, and be aware that Auntie (Anti?) HR will be watching to make sure she's worthy, whoever she ends up to be (lucky? yes. worthy? I'll let you know). Just remember this litmus test: "If I had children with this person, and I died, could I rest in peace knowing that this person is raising my child and making decisions on their own?" Prayers for ya' both!

There are good reasons why the Free Republic Wuss Brigade (some of whom have already posted on this thread, thinking the establishment of an "FR Dating Site" will solve all of their problems) are so unattractive to women. The Brigade's members shall remain nameless for their own protection, but check any divorce thread to get a pretty good idea who they are. ;)

No kidding.....
I've read a few of their "rants".

Imagine hating women so much - and thinking they'll overlook your anger and fall in love with you anyway?!

Not!

BTW, How come conservatives are all about competition until it comes to dating? Then they turn into socialists, complaining about a "lack of fairness." :)

Because this is the Internet, not a Young Americans for Freedom convention. They'll let anybody in here. ;)

Good spirit. I just want to take some time here to outline the "Vision Thing" for this porposed recurring thread.

First: I do not see it as a "dating service." I envision this as a place where Freepers who happen to be single can be more at ease. I have over the years heard single freepers lament that they have run into people on threads who flirted heavily and were dsimayed to find that the person was married/engaged and were upset by this. The proposal is that, like the Canteen, there will be a topic of discussion for each FR Virtual Mingle; to take pressure of people, the topic will avoid dating. The idea is that this will be akin to the Hobbit Hole or the Canteen. Both have an overarching theme that collects like-minded freepers. That is the idea here. A place where unattached freepers can mingle and chat. At the very least, we will make some new friendships. If some of y'all hit-it-off, then that is just cool by be.

Second: Let's keep things under control. We are Jim Robinson's quests; it is his baby. If any of us see someone saying or doing anything that can cause problems, let's nip it in the bud. I really enjoy FR and don't care to be banned or suspended.

Third: Some have expressed concerns over married FReepers crashing the shindig. Just as I would not enter onto a MG Fan thread to "dis" MGs, we ask that married folks not come here to flirt. If married folks want to stop by and say, "I have a single friend or relative who wants to contact you", then that is cool.

In short, it is intended to be a place for unattached Freepers to chat and have fun in a hassle-free, no-pressure environment.

Then we really have to stand above the crowd, don't we? :)

I gotta get one of those "Viva la Reagan Revolucion" t-shirts like the image on your profile page...I'm going to wear it over to Berkeley next time I go to see my brother and give heart attacks to a few of those deserving Prius drivers who wont peel off their fading Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers. ;)

Hi Central Texas Lady!

I'm 56 miles south of Dallas myself. Let me ask you a question?

For the past month I've been posting a notice here abouts.
It reads:

Wanted: Female companion. She must be financially sound and able to cook like Grandma did, clean house, do lawn work, fix plumbing, do household repairs, seine for minnows, clean fish and have at least 14 foot boat with fish finder, trolling motor and outboard. If interested, send photo of boat.

No one has even replied. What am I doing wrong?

Not quite on the same level...but when my brother lived in SF, he joined the NRA in spite of the fact that he doesn't own any guns (yet), just so he could claim to be a member and wear an NRA hat around.

It didn't get him too many friendly glances.

Imagine hating women so much - and thinking they'll overlook your anger and fall in love with you anyway?!

With charming studs like them? How could you help yourself! And forget the outmoded pre-nup - you would sign a pre-dating property division agreement, too, just to assure yourself the continued privilege of their company. ;)

Women do this, too - I can't tell you how many times I've heard the refrain, "99% of all men are jerks...but I'm sure you are one of the few good ones." Well, that kind of adversarial mindset isn't going to get anyone very far.
