G'evening, Jonny. I haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread tonight, but I'm recording the show to watch later so I can stay on here a little while.

Hi again :) There's a thuderstorm rumbling outside, so I don't know how long I can hang around.

Thought you might be interested in the latest sales figures for the singles by Carrie and Bo. They are still #1 and 2 on the SALES charts, although they have fallen sharply on the Hot 100 singles chart (combines physical and digitial sales and airplay).

Carrie's version of Inside Your Heaven with that other pathetic song on side 2 has sold 355,066 as of this week's updates.

Bo's version with Vehicle on side 2 has 254,561 sold.

Neither one of them is getting any airplay, and their physical sales continue to drop. What they do with their albums will determine what kind of future each of them has in the business.

Although I love Southern California, I do miss the periodic rain and thunderstorms throughout the year. Even if we have a wet rainy season here, most of it comes between November and February.

Thanks for the update. I figured as much. I'm not looking forward to their CDs now as much as I was only a month ago. Fame is fleeting, I guess.

But, I'm hearing Kelly Clarkson's songs constantly on the radio--and this is on a station that plays nothing but listener requests. "Since U Been Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes" are played at least once every two hours.

I don't know if you'd miss this one--it's a window-rattler! Seems to settling down a bit now.

I'm still in how they do, if only because I'm an AI fan. But I really do like Bo and hope he can make a breakthrough.

Kelly's album, Breakaway, has been certified triple platinum here in the U.S. beating estimates for reaching that milestone by more than six weeks. It's also back in the Billboard top 10. It's gone platinum in Australia and New Zealand, is in the top 10 in Canada, and debuted this week at #10 on the UK charts. She's been nominated for a couple of MTV Video Music Awards, and while I don't expect her to win, she'll be one of the headliners performing at the awards ceremony.

MIAMI (Reuters) - U.S. punk-pop band Green Day captured eight nominations for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "American Idiot" on Monday to lead nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Rocker Gwen Stefani and rap artist Missy Elliott each won six nominations and the Irish band U2 had five.

The 22nd annual MTV awards will be broadcast from Miami on Aug. 28. Rapper Kanye West, American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson as well as Green Day are among the scheduled performers, MTV said in a news release.

The Video of the Year nominees are: Coldplay for "Speed of Sound," Kanye West for "Jesus Walks," Green Day for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell for "Drop It Like It's Hot" and Gwen Stefani for "Hollaback Girl."

Nominated for Best Male Video are 50 Cent for "Candy Shop," Kanye West for "Jesus Walks," Beck for "E-Pro," Usher for "Caught Up," and John Legend for "Ordinary People."

For Best Female Video: Amerie for "1 Thing," Mariah Carey for "We Belong Together," Gwen Stefani for "Hollaback Girl," Shakira for "La Tortura" and Kelly Clarkson for "Since U Been Gone."

Kelly has a real good shot at getting a Grammy nomination or two, although again I wouldn't expect her to win given that Mariah Carey's return album is a smash.

Ooops, in my last post, that should read "I'm still interested in how they do..." re Carrie and Bo.

BTW, I think Kelly's next single release from the album is going to be "Because of You." I like that song, but personally love "Addicted." What do you think?

I still want Carrie and Bo to succeed (my money's on Bo), but I'm kinda ho-hum about both of them.

During my most recent trip to Walmart I saw a large display of Bo's singles. On closer examination I noticed that the CDs were literally gathering dust. It never occurred to me to buy a copy.

I wish them the best though. These singles were poorly produced and poorly promoted--they both deserve better than that.

I really like "Because Of You". "Addicted" too. One song, though, that's beginning to grate on my nerves is "Gone". Whenever it starts (BOM-BUH-DOM-BUH-DOM!) I skip to the next song.

Agreed. Bo's CD, especially, was something of an afterthought for the producers. Frankly, I think Bo's popularity by the end of the show was a big surprise to the producers.

I don't know if it's true, but on one of the music boards I lurk at, the news was that Bo is getting his own TV sit-com built around his being an aspiring singer.

BTW, Rascal Flatts is currently in the process of planning their next album set for an early 2006 release. They approached Kelly Clarkson to do a collaboration with them on the album. Interesting, huh?! If the song turns out good and is released as a single, Carrie could find herself up against a Rascal Flatts-KC powerhouse on the country charts.

I can see how "Gone" might get on a person's nerves. There's only one song on the album I really can't stand, and that's "I Hate Myself for Losing You." The debate over on the KC forum where I lurk/post occasionally is whether or not there's going to be a 5th single released off the album and, if so, what song. "Because of You" is definitely the next single. If there's a 5th single, the consensus seems to be it ought to be "Addicted."

GROAN! I hope that's not true. That's Ruben territory (LOL)

Kelly and RF? That does sound interesting.

LOL! Double groan. I hope it's not true also. Let Bo concentrate on building his music career. He's going to have his hands full with that for awhile.

"Walk Away" is a really good song. Along with "Addicted" its a favorite over on her fan boards.

Oh, another bit of AI news. The new album by John Stevens supposedly debuted at #5 on the Billboard jazz chart. I don't have access to that chart, so have to take the work of the folks over at Pulse Music Board, but the info posted over there is usually accurate.

With Jazz, at least it sounds like Stevens is sticking to a genre that suits him. (Not that I'm going to buy that CD either, LOL)

Well, it's almost midnight here and the pillow is calling me. It's been great to talk with you "live" for a change, Wolfstar :)

Stay safe and God bless,

Jonny
