Thursday, April 7, 2005

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

Tussel/Tussel

Verb/noun:
Pronunciation: tus/el
Etymology: I don’t know.

1) (verb) To struggle, especially roughly or violently: scuffle. Syn: wrestle
2) (Noun) A physical contest or struggle: scuffle

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

yes, your brothers were different - they were boys. We had to live in fear of the paddle, whereas the nuns would never beat you sweet darling girls - blech!

I'm typing this with a cat's tail on my keyboard.

That is quite a trick. I just use my fingers.

The Sisters of Charity. I remember them well. Second grade under the nun's desk getting her shoes in my back. I can't remember what I did, but she didn't like me very much. Probably talked back to her, "You are an idiot," sort of thing.

i guess white witches are the good witches and black witches are bad?

When black withces get excited, they become 15-20% bigger than white witches.

He has left me for the time being. He places his body on my fingers. Switches his tail on my keyboard. It is difficult to type when these things are happening. When I play timed colorful games which only uses the mouse, he's right in front of the monitor. I think he likes movement and color.

Now that the dogs are in heaven, he thinks he's so cool and can do no wrong. Wait until the puppies come. Hehehehehehe!

Oh, Gabz. I'm so sorry. I couldn't use a crutch if my life depended on it. Try to put yourself in a very relaxed mode. That's easy to say, and it doesn't always work.

You get an A++++ today.

Our nuns used rulers and books to hit children. They really did. And they were called the Sisters of Charity.

Same with me - but they were called the Sisters of Mercy :)

I've heard the discussions on both sides regarding Harry Potter - We have had movies and stories for years that insinuate magic or the occult - "The Wizard of Oz" is a highly acclaimed movie that no one seems to have a problem with - TV shows "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" were popular with many - How about Grimm's Fairy Tales - good Lord, people throwing their own children into a forest to die alone, then the children murder a witch!

Harry Potter is written along the lines of good triumphs over evil - it is fiction, not a how-to book.

I just don't see why some have made such a big deal out of it when they probably have read Hansel and Gretel to their own children.

Those campy Beverly Hillbillies,
From Bugtussle, Tennesee.
Somehow their wacky antics,
Don't seem so strange to me.

Remember jokes about the cement pond,
And all of Ellie May's critters?
And how Jethro Clampett's boyish physique
Gave Miss Hathaway the twitters.

Now the folks in Kaliforn- I-Ay,
Serve us shows about worm eating,
And hormonal teens in skimpy clothes,
With Desperate Housewives cheating.

If the Hillbillies were on today,
Would we see Miss Jane with T.O.?
Would we perhaps see Jethro in,
Paris Hilton's home porn video?

Strap Granny in her rocking chair,
She won't put up a fuss.
It's only a thirty hour drive,
Bugtussle or Bust!
