Pelosi on Osteen

Posted on 07/18/2005 8:06:49 PM PDT by Battle Hymn of the Republic

OK, what is it lately with some televangelists? My Aunt said that Osteen had Pelosi on his show yesterday. My Aunt who thinks highly of Osteen was shocked and super torqued at Osteen and TBN.

Before I get flamed, let me say I am servant of the Lord and mean no ill will, just prayers...

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I've seen their sincerity

Sincerity...as far as the eye can see.

Quite the co-in-kee-dink, don't you think? Excuse me for my skeptical mind, but I can't help but think maybe this was done on....purpose! Hmmmmmm?

On purpose by whom? Pelosi was in town visiting relatives and saw a chance for a good photo-op to appeal to religious people. That is what happened IMho. I don't see any upside for Osteen.

Pelosi is one of the most pro-abortion... i guess next time when she brings her grandkids they can promote the liberals and marxists even more.

Yes, she is pro abortion. They use the 'church' as a front - good values, etc. The message goes over their head because if they lived by the 'message' - they would be considered 'radical', - They want to be liked and power hunger and force on us what THEY think is right and not what God says is right.

OSTEEN: You know, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know ...

Well, Joel, God told us in His Word....Unless a man be born again, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Why couldn't you say that, Joel?

Isn't she pro-choice?

She's hugely pro-death. How she hasn't been excommunicated from the Catholic Church is beyond me.

But I guess if you aren't a practicing Catholic it doesn't matter what the Church thinks.

More importantly, what God says. But then, again, even an atheist knows - killing is wrong.

Politics seems to be a 'religion' in and of itself. A religion based on lies, twisting of truth, digging dirt. It's purpose - to gain power while we support them (salary, insurance, perks, etc.). Then we are asked to $upport their campaign so they can get/keep their job. It's a 'me' religion. I don't support such religions and, as we can see, our (includes inborn babies) inalienable rights - God given - are being taken away by those who pose in churches for photo ops. And then add pious insult by some who defend them by saying..."we don't know what's in their heart". Only blindness can say that.

Pelosi did refer to the new DNC headquarters in religious terms, including calling it 'The Temple'. She calls herself Catholic, uses it as a political tool; that's about the extent of it as far as I can tell.

From what I've seen of Osteen, he preaches Joel-feel-goodism, not Christianity. We have family members who follow him religiously. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have the same fervor for Jesus. They just want to have someone tell them that they'll get into Heaven no matter what they do, that they're good people because of the wealth they've amassed. Not surprisingly, they're also diehard union democrats.

I have been familiar with the Osteen family since the late 1970's. My family's association with the Osteens became even closer in 1991 when Pastor John Osteen officiated my sister's wedding. This family is the real deal. John Osteen served the Lord with integrity and has had a stellar reputation in Houston for more than 50 years. John Osteen never asked for money.

Joel isn't about the money. He and his wife had plenty long before he became pastor of Lakewood.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Right, nothing about carrying our cross daily, crucifying our flesh daily. There needs to be a change in us, not business as usual. I have relatives who are Catholic/ Republican who can buy whatever they want - almost like a dynasty - they have no need to rely on Christ or seek His Will. They are surrounded by vulchers and they 'cater' to them. I'll take wisdom and spiritual discernment over all the riches in the world.

Didn't know that - interesting.
