Else why would Snape himself be applying for the Master of the Dark Arts position that you know who wanted?

DD stated that since V was turned down, no teacher for that class lasted more than one year. By giving it to Snape, did that fit into his betrayal of the Order of the Phoenix? It would give Snape the perfect excuse to leave the school, and Dumbledore knew this...

Good arguments, but I still think that Snape really wanted to prevent you know who from getting that spot.

I thought that was odd too. Dumbledore just suspected that it was the snake, but yet, he admits that he could be wrong because he is human. It may not be after all. I would think the soul would die with the snake, if it died. Her death would mean the horcrux is destroyed, right? I don't think Nagini's life is at all tied to the other horcruxes. They seem to be totally independent of each other. Voldemort does not even know when one is destroyed, according to Dumbledore's beliefs. I don't think Nagini's life is tied to Voldemort's life either since Voldemort is also a horcrux. Nagini being a horcrux means she is able to somehow be used by someone to bring Voldemort back to life if Voldemort (that is his 1/7 of his soul) is killed. I would think that if she was one, it would have been easier to use her in GOF to get Voldemort back his human form rather than Harry. Though, Voldemort was just trying to kill Harry, and didn't want to waste a horcrux, perhaps.

I gotta go workout. Maybe that will clear my head............oy!

Could DD have finally given Snape the DADA position because he knew it would be the last year of Hogwarts?

Possibly....

This is why I love talking about this stuff with Freepers cause they always come up with stuff I never would have thought of.

I'm going to have to reread OOTP now, to see how I missed Tonks and Remus. I didn't see that one coming!

My goodness; you guys are FAST readers. The book has only been out for 44 hours!!!! Glad you can read that fast; it would take me a few months to get through a book.

I haven't read it. The kids have the dead tree edition, I listened to all 19 hours of the audio, though...

Ping -- I need to read this stuff at home.

It took me all freakin' day to read that sucker. And boy was it worth the time!

I thought Snape as the HBP was rather lame.

I LOVED Tonks and Remus.

I'm bummed for Ginny Weasley.

IMHO, one of the Horcrux's is Harry's Scar!

I totally agree! I think the link between the two with it will cause Harry to sacrifice himself somehow...maybe with Neville's help...

I have a feeling Ginny will be waiting when Harry's finished doing what he needs to do. :-)

As for DD, I wasn't sure he was dead until his portrait was on the wall in his office. That convinced me, for some reason. Nor was I. It was the clincher for me too.

I just cannot imagine Hogwarts closing, where will the little ones go after Voldemort is defeated?

and you know he will be defeated

I was an assistant manager at Waldenbooks for a few years and we used to read books pre-release. We NEVER would have said anything so stupid as that saleswoman. We'd have been fired the next day. I wonder if B&N has the same policy.

Find out.

So, who saw it coming??! I was close.

I saw it coming, because of where the book came from. Snape wouldn't permit anything of the sort to exist in the class supplies unless it was his. Plus it goes with the theme that the folks that hate mudbloods the most are always impure wizards.

Well, that, and a lucky guess. :)

I think Giny will fight along Harry's side. Not to mention they will see each other at Bill and Fleur's wedding.

The only question is: does Harry go back to Hogwarts for Year 7, or is she going to compress several years into the next book?

Yes, an interesting question. Will it end decades from now with the Hogwart's head master - the elderly Harry Potter - reminiscing about his glory days?

I also thought that we were being set up for something being hidden in the Room of Requirement when she went into such detail about hiding the HBP's potions book.

Good point!

I am so excited for the last book, yet dreading it because it is supposed to be the last book. I am very conflicted!

You have a point though, I can't imagine Harry being able to kill Voldemort and destroy all the horcruxes in one year. Heck, if Snape was working with Dumbledore when he killed him, it will take longer than a year for Snape to convince Harry he is on the side of the Order. I think one way would be to go into the pensieve with Harry and show him the memory. He would have to stupify Harry and throw him into the pensieve for that to happen.
