That Snape is a mean, grumpy, vindictive, and bad excuse for a human being is without question. But there isn't any evidence that he is a killer. Yes, there is a body. Albus is, as far as we can tell, dead. But there is a chance that either he is still alive and his death has been faked, or his death was a planned gambit to save Draco, put Snape back into the Death Eaters, and to push the plot forward to the next stage, where Harry Potter must come out from underneath Albus Dumbledore's protective wing and actually go on the offensive against Voldemort.

Yep, I sorta suspect something like that. And how exactly did Harry happen to get Snape's (The Half Blood Prince) chemistry err... potions book? Mere coincidince?

Think maybe D knew Harry needed help in that area, and that he would NEED to know potions for the battles ahead?

And as someone else mentioned; D's familiar is a Phoenix so who knows if he is really dead, and burried despite the rules on Hogwarts grounds?

J.K. did good with this book. I read the first ten chapters in one sitting, and the rest in the next. It just picked up and didn't stop.

Sort of sad the way he broke it off in the end, though.

You mean like the way Mary Jane let Spidey go off alone at then end for similar reasons? ;-/

Redheads you know. Once they get something in their minds... and I figure Ginny's made up her mind.

As for Snape; I think he told D about his Unbreakable Vow... D didn't want Draco to slide irreversably down into the dark side. And had to plead with Serveus to do what he vowed.

Dumbledore was a master wizard, and like a grandmaster chess player, thinks and plans many, many, many moves ahead.

The next book ought to be real interesting.

I'm safe and sound here in Michigan. My parents are still in New York. They'll be heading back to Jekyll Island, off the coast of Georgia, next week. Their housesitter said everything there is fine, they just had gusty winds and some rain.

It's never too late! You're added! We should have some good pings coming up with Goblet of Fire coming out.

Unfortunately, if the movie included all the things we love about the books, they'd be 5 hours long, and they'd have to give an intermission break (really a bathroom break!) half way through, for all the kids and adults to run out and rush back.

I learned with the first movie to let go of my faorite scenes in the book and understand that the screenplay can only hit the high points of the book, and will take shortcuts that J.K. didn't, in order to move the story along.

OTOH, I was in the theatre with a 5-6 yo and his Mom, and at every juncture where the movie deviated from the book, true to form, the kid would tell his Mom just how wrong what they'd just seen was. He was particularly unhappy over the World Cup as well, the fact that Neville tells Harry about the Gillyweed and not the kitchen elf, and that there were "many more Death Eaters than that. That's wrong!" at the restoration of the Dark Lord.

However, that said, I thought this movie, thanks to the character that played Moody and his suggestions, who kept inserting more and more of his character than had apparently been included in the screenplay, we got to see more of Moody than we might have!!

I'm planning on going to see HP/GOF again this week - and hope to see it in the same theatre I did last week, with the wide screen and Dolby sound. I'm hoping that they haven't changed the screening times, because the other theatre that was also showing the movie was a much smaller screen and I suspect didn't have Dolby. I may wind up, sitting waiting for the show in the theatre I know to be the better of the 2 at this multiplex that is showing multiple screenings. Wish me luck!

Oh, one more thing. One thing I did NOT like was the character of Dumbledore in this movie. It was wrong, wrong, wrong. The kid and I agreed - DD was NEVER mean, he never yelled at the kids and he never ever showed his weakness, if he had any, to either the Hogwart's students or Harry. When he yells for "Silence", it was with the wrong tone of voice and the kid and I responded the same way: DD would never have been so angry, or so belligerant in his tone! I especially didn't like his beard tied ith that silly string or whatever it was, as J.K., always describes DD's beard as "flowing". How does it "flow" when it's tied up, for Pete's sake?

I hope the Director gets back on track with next movies as far as the character of DD.
