Wedding Crashers (Ebert's Review: Two Stars)
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | 7/15/2005 | Roger Ebert

"Wedding Crashers" is all runway and no takeoff. It assembles the elements for a laugh-out-loud comedy, but it can't make them fly. There are individual moments that are very funny. But it takes a merciless focus to make a good comedy, and the director, David Dobkin, has too much else on his mind. There are sequences involving Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson where you sense that the actors should have just broken into the cockpit and taken over the controls. There are few lonelier sights than a good comedian being funny in a movie that doesn't know what funny is.

Looks like John McCain had better keep his day job. If he has one.

Ebert is a moron. This is one fo the funniest movies I have seen in a very long time. It never lets you down and is not just mindless toilet frat boy humor, although there are some really funny crass monologues.

John McCain was on screen for about 10 seconds.

The best surprise in the movie. The unveiling of the identity of "Chaz", the guru who wrote the rules of Wedding Crahing. I wont ruin the surprise as its one of the funniest momemnts in the movie.

Vaugh and Owen are perfectly cast, Vaugh as the typical fast talking slickster ladies man and Owen as the more sensitive Cali dude party guy. But there are role switches in the movie which is what makes the movie great.

And I predict a lot of great memorable quotes from this movie.

4 stars
