The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I talked to him about 2. He said they were tying stuff down and watching to see if evacuation was necessary. I am on a wait list for hotels for him, but have a vacant apt with power and a hospital bed standing by if he wants it. It's not much, but will get us by if wants it. I told him to bring the dogs and anyone who wants to come. Patricia should have to evacuate tomorrow. I haven't talked to her. Phyllis is talking about going to Goliad. They may come here. She won't know till Friday.

Worth, Dallas, Austin - see this thread.

Also, check with military bases - most have stables. We used to stop when traveling and exercise in the corrals or round pens. They will quarantine your horses though, not put them with stable horses.

Thanks. I'm so glad that we have spent so much time with them loading and tied to the trailer. I feel very comfortable that where ever I should have to take them (road side park, truck stop, Walmarts parking lot ...) that they would load, stand and re-load fine.

Ok, Good. Watch you though because it looks like you are gonna get a heck of a rain storm. Keep me updated where everyone is ok? Also in mandatory evacuations EMS will transport too if you need them.

I thought about asking to borrow the motor home to get her. Not sure how well that would be received by either of em.

Hey Cindy, you there this morning? Reba, I heard on the news this morning that as far inland as Waco could get hurricane force winds. They aren't sure yet how much rain we're gonna get up here, if the hurricane tracks just a tiny bit more east, our rain will stay under 5 inches or so. If it tracks further west, then we in DFW get a deluge. Cindy, maybe my tank will fill back up. :)

Thanks,Sharn. It looks like Galveston is going to get slammed but I don't like that the forecasters keep looking at the Matagorda/Freeport area.

When you call him tell him no waitin around, he needs to leave asap to avoid traffic and problems. Cindy, he may want to visit you since you are out going to be out of harms way now.
