This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

This is a current tracking map. You and Houston are gonna get a ton of wind and rain but if the hurricane keeps tracking as is (and of course that's questionable) you should be ok.
Maybe it was the hat. Did he try removing it?
I had one girlfriend who had a daughter with similar sypmtoms and she was diagnosed with that Epstein-Barr virus.
No telling if that was the right diagnosis or not, they just couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Yeah, it didn't help. And like I said, this horse had acted like this at other rides. Surely he didn't have that hat on at all of them:)

Doctors "practicing" medicine:)
Doctores scare me to death, I can't remember the last time I went to one....
Becky
Huh. That's really weird. Horse just took a dislike to that guy. How did the horse place in the ride? Would you recommend a mustang for endurance? Seems like the Arabs always win.
Well, Bob always said Bay was a 'lady's' horse because he did better for me, and seemed to like me more than Bob, but I think he's over that. I think it's about aggressive posture and loudness... the way some men can approach and move around in a rougher way, where women tend to be softer. It sounds like this vet had a calm quiet manner, so that might not be the case in this situation.
My dog Zulu was certainly very fearful of all men for the first several years I had her, she was abused and neglected when she showed up at my place, and while I could handle her, around men she'd just panic and pee. She got over that in time.... she was also very leary of kids.
I think the only thing doctors are good for are broken bones, cancer and having babies.
I've had stomach problems for many, many years. Been to 2 different gastro doctors and they've always been able to relieve my symptoms but not get rid of them. About 2 weeks ago, I read about people who have a gluten intolerance and the symptoms matched mine. I went off all wheat products at that time and I've never felt better. No doctor ever suggested that my problems could be a food intolerance.
I'll go to one if I need a bone set or a major organ removed, but other than that, I try to suffer my own cure.
Funny thing is, I call vets without hesitation. Just not for myself :~D
OK - keep us posted if you decide to move.
Great minds think alike....
Look at this.
PORT ARTHUR TX.........X X 4 9 13
GALVESTON TX............X X 6 8 14
FREEPORT TX................X X 6 9 15
PORT O CONNOR TX....X X 6 9 15
CORPUSCHRISTI TX.....X X 5 9 14
BROWNSVILLE TX.......X X 7 7 14
That was my guess. The lady said that the horse was hard to break so that probably means that they used pretty harsh measures to do it and maybe this judge just happened to use the same deodorant or aftershave or something like that as the guy who broke her. The sense of smell is the most directly hard-wired into the brain of all the senses. We've all experienced a flashback of things that happened long ago when smelling certain smells. I'll bet that's what happens to this horse.
Unless the city evacuates we have to stay. Eddie and I are both locked in at our jobs. If it looks likejust some bad thunder storms the horses will stay, in the barn.
lol. I have access to both and the latest PDR on line. I also sleep at holiday inn expresses.
I'm getting about as distrustful of vets as I am with doctors. They all have an opinion, but they never seem to agree:).
Becky
Well good luck:) Stay safe, jobs are not as important as your lives.
Becky
True. This ain't NO though. Nursing homes and hospitals won't be given a choice if this thing heads our way.
Wow, the model I saw said Corpus would take the direct hit. Is that one saying Port Arthur is landfall?
I think that was what the problem was too, a scent.
