This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh, How cute. I was gonna get some pics today but my camera down. Cindy jumped into the car so I let her go. When we got there she hopped out and stayed right with me and Sarah Lee. No sign of fear at all. I'm thinking how proud I am of her. Then we went into the barn. She was not going back into that place where that big crazy dog got her. She sat by the jeep and waited for me. Funny though that after awhile she figured out Sarah Lee safe. She has no idea that Sarah Lee has a HX. She seems to be ok with Cindy though. The dog behind and under her and she just ignored her.
RUN!
ROFL! Advantages, I can run fast! : D
Sarah Lee off til Monday but that looks like a go. I saddled her today and she seemed ok.

I'm going back through the posts I missed yesterday. I was busy all day and didn't get to check in much.
The snow cover on that lodge is incredible. It reminds me of that Stephen King book that they made the movie out of, the one with Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall and I have no idea why the name is escaping me! I hate it when that happens!
"Well I'm buying me another bike today. Since I quit riding my weight inching back up too. We went to the island last night. Saw how the rich and famous live. Eddies boss gave us his condo for the weekend. It's right on the beach and gorgeous. We went swimming in the pool last night and watched a movie. We got up this morning and nothing really to do so we came home. I've been mowing and playing the piano."
I've got to figure out a way to get more exercise in. I'm gonna weigh 500 pounds by Christmas at the rate I'm going.
I didn't know you play the piano. Mandy does, too. I could listen to piano music for hours. Do you remember a place on Camp Bowie called "Crystal's?" It was a huge pizza parlor with different theme type rooms to sit in. A good friend of mine and I always sat in the piano room and listened to an old man play. He played lots of Floyd Cramer stuff and took requests. We always ate at odd times, we worked odd hours, so we were usually alone with him. He seemed to enjoy showing off and taking requests.

Ohhh, the saddle and pad look so pretty on your horse and I see you like riding in it. That saddle looks really deep and cozy, do you feel plenty secure?

I'm still putting a halter on him and leading him through but the night before last, I put a rope halter with a rawhide noseband on him. I opened the gate and he did start to run through but I gave a big hard tug on that rawhide noseband and it sure got his attention. Didn't get the lead rope jerked out of my hands, at least.
"Well, Cyn's got recurring white gunk in her eye.... thoughts?"
Her eye looks healthy, she's not holding it halfway closed, so it's probably not a foreign object in there. Does she have allergies? Has she been rubbing it?
