The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I think you can also get some kind of tea tree shampoo for her that will help ease her skin problems. Might be worth shopping online to see what is out there?

Such interesting critters:') My BIL said he would wake up to shaking and go outside and she would be out and using the corner of his cabin as a scratching post.

We got 2 inches in less than 30 minutes today. Lightning was popping everywhere.

One thing though. The shot won't help if the fleas aren't gone. So make sure that you bomb and dip. If the skin is still bad, then go for the shot. If she has open sores on her skin from the itching, a dip may not be a good idea until they heal.

Ugh. I had jury duty last year. I forget how long it is before they get to call you again. Civic duty and all that, I understand, but still... Did you know that it's a $1000 fine if you miss it and don't file an absentee card?

We've had a terrible time with rain. Monsoons in June, and then nothing since. In my town, the water table is so low that we're having problems with water pressure everywhere. The grass is nothing but straw. Yesterday we were supposed to get some mega t-storms and rain, and they hit both towns next to us, and not us! We got a spattering of rain, but not enough to really do anything at all. The skies were really dark, the wind whipped up good, (50 mph) and my aunt even saw a funnel cloud forming, but it didn't touch down. It was the strangest thing. It sure put the National Weather Service on alert.

I'd love to be on jury duty. Got called once, had to go in every day for a week, but they always seated the jury before they got to me. And a couple of the cases sounded really interesting!

I don't mind but I always get picked. I told them this time that I had just served a few years ago and knew there was no way they could have gone thru the list. I was told that they updated a new list and started over. I just didn't care for this judge the last time. He tried to rush us and was in to big a hurry to go on vacation. I get the drug cases too.

Choctawsquaw just left. We've been sitting on the patio visiting. It looked like we might get some rain before it got dark.

I've always thought jury duty might be interesting. i've never been called.

The mellow beer drinking reminds me of the tale told about the restoration of an old airplane. Several buddys got together and bought an old fabric covered airplane to restore and fly to antique airplane airshows.

They managed to get the fabric removed from the plane and drank lots of beer but not much else. After a couple of years it was decided that if the airplane was ever going to fly again it would have to be restored by professionals. That was the best idea they had because the old plane was gorgeous when it was finished.

So you see, grabbing a beer from the fridge turns out for the best sometimes......... : )

The finished old airplane look similar to this one.

The last time that I had to go, all of them decided to plead guilty without a trial. I remember we were stuck upstairs in these tiny little rooms. One had no air conditioning and was boiling hot, the other had air conditioning and was freezing cold. Everyone wanted the room with air conditioning, so I ended up in the room without it. There was a tiny little stall IN the room that served as the toilet. And they told us that there was "Bottled water" but the only "bottled water" that was there were those huge jugs for water coolers, with no water cooler. There were paper cups, however.
