The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I will Not accept that label! I HATE working on cars and vans. Anyhow the big ole trucks you get here in the USA are not found in the UK! A big difference to hauling the engine out of a mini to hauling the engine out of a F350!
I had to work on my vehicles because my mechanic wouldnt do it he wanted me to learn, so handed me the part. I couldnt afford to go eleswhere so I learnt the best i could.
BTW I LOVE the big trucks you have here! : ) and that really IS a nice truck, joking aside Cav!

Well, actually I used to call them Inter-state-national Farmalls.

If it has hydraulic brakes ... you are welcome to make a chicken house with it.......... : )

Thank You!

It is easy to work on your own truck ... if you have the proper tools. That is the secret which makes it easier and air driven impact wrenches are a must have tool for trucks.

LOL I have found that jumping up and down on a wrench to turn a bolt doesnt help any other than give you a sprained ankle......and swearing at them doesnt loosen them up much!
Kicking a tire and grabbing a beer from the fridge works great........you soon mellow and dont give a monkeys about some heap of metal! : D

Yeah, but those air driven tools that tighten bolts so hard, dont help you much when you are sitting on the side of the road trying to take off a blown tire with a piddly little tool that comes "free' with the truck! I Curse all and sundry when that happens!

Finishing up on the pasture mowing! Curses on me for letting it get this overgrown with weeds... We sprayed some weed killer on the scotch bloom... So now we'll keep the horses off it till we get some rain on it. ecurbh off there in the distance is trying to get the sprayer to work. It only has a gallon capacity, so... like the mower, we just don't have a big enough tool for the job. It takes too many trips back in to re-fill. We're not yet ready to manage 20 acres. :~D

Finishing up the last little bit mowing!

This little Dove has something wrong.... they normally don't let me get this close, even at the bird feeder. I thought about trying to catch her and see if I could tell what was wrong, but she eventually flew away. Don't know what was up with her.

A lizard we found while mowing!

We also saw several field mice scampering away when we approached with the mower... should take Gidget with us out mowing, she'd like that! Oh well.... they're welcome to live.... out there. They just can't live in my barn.

I saw that tag on your mower and it reminded me... Last weekend when I was mowing I started noticing warnings. They were all over the mower and gas can. The funniest one , was on the plastic shield. It said not to mow without shield on the shield. How is anyone going to see it if it isn't there?!

LOL! Sometimes, when I'm feeling rebellious, I start it without having my foot firmly on the little footpad.

Oh, that's bad lol but I tie the bar so I can move stuff without killing the engine.

Heh... Mine's not that bad, the bar only disengages the blade, it doesn't kill the engine when you let go... so you can move it around it self-propelled without the blade turnin'.
