The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Jenny has a step son Blake.

Charlie has JP

Charlie is my oldest, married to Kristy.

Jenny is my baby, married to Travis.

This baby in reality is my 3rd, because we count Blake as ours:), he's a really cool kid:), He just left, he spent the day with me. We went and bought a sand box and sand box toys, AND I found him a Venus Fly Trap today. He likes plants.

Blake is 7, JP is 19 months.

No problem. I don't think I ever really explained who's who in my family.

Congratulations :) I'm sorry about your saddle though. I bought a synthetic one several years ago, 17lbs total. Bob is now using it for endurance. It's held up very well and is really comfortable (and hoses off when dirty).

good morning! Thanks for the info, you must be so excited, your babay having her first own baby! My friend had almost given up on ever being a grandma and has just been told her daughter in law is expecting twins! Needless to say I am saving all of Thomas clothes/toys he outgrows for her! : ) We have leather and synthetic saddles. My saddle for Sugar is synthetic, so is Emmas, The one Deaconjim uses for Smokey is leather. I love the look of leather, but synthetic is so easy to keep clean etc.
We are in Memphis now, we stopped for an hour about 4am to sleep. The kids are all excited and awake! So far the trip is going great. : ) Havent seen much of the scenery as it is still dark! LOL

Thank you:)

I am sorry you had a rough night. I meant to post to you yesterday to remind you to take pictures of your riding yesterday. Did you get to go?

This is how it went last night:

Hooked trailer up to the truck, got trailer all loaded up with 3 horses and the needed tack, got kids ready to go. Drive to the indoor arena with a big storm hot on my heels, hoping to get there before it starts raining. We get to the place and it's locked up tight. There is a caretaker that lives there, in a house right by the gate, so I walk to the house, no one there. I leave a nasty note on the door, wait for a little while to see if she shows up, no such luck. I'm in a place where I can't turn the trailer around so I have to back out of the drive and find my way home going the wrong way, with my kids fussing and griping the entire way. (They look forward to this all week)

This is the second time I've been locked out but the first time they were there, she said she just forgot. She finally called my cell phone last night and said she had to pick a friend up from the hospital and forgot to leave the gate open. The message sounded like it was a great hardship for her to remember to leave the gate open so I will be discussing this with the owners of the place. You know, this is a non-profit organization and by letting me use the arena, they are making over $1200 extra a year, just by leaving a gate open. Doesn't matter to the caretaker, I'm sure, but it may after I discuss this with the owner.

Morning ladies.... Glad to see you Tuffy!

I'm on little sleep but I'm up. My brother went into the hospital yesterday with an infection, and we're worried. Going up there this morning. Gotta get some coffee in me.
