Dead Body Falls From Hearse onto Busy Freeway
KSLA ^ | 13JUL05 | N/A

The body of a man being transported to Shreveport, Louisiana fell from the back of a hearse and onto a busy Dallas freeway Tuesday. Dallas television station KTVT obtained photographs from the scene showing a gurney on its side and the man's body partially uncovered. A police report from the Dallas Police Department indicates someone called police saying they had just spotted a body on a gurney with a blanket over it lying in the middle of State Highway 175.

The investigating officer says he was met at the scene by two witnesses who saw the gurney fall onto the freeway. The officer says the man an SUV-style hearse stated the back door to his vehicle came open and the man's body fell out of the back. When he realized what had happened, the man returned to the scene to retrieve the body. Authorities say the body was being transported to a Shreveport funeral home after the man died Monday at a hospital in Mesquite, Texas.

Can you imagine the insurance claim. "Well, I was driving down the highway, minding my business, when this dead guy comes flying out of the car in front of me."

The poor stiff didn't even get to ride in a Fourrunner. That's sad.

Stranger than the van's doors
flying open.....caskets are
suppose to be locked prior
to transport & buriel.

Most caskets today have a
crank that fits into one
end of the casket & locks
the lid into place.

[I wonder if the deceased
would have found this
accident humorous? LOL!]

What does a casket have to do with this event.... The body was being transported from the Dallas County Medical Exaimer's facility to a Shreveport funeral home.

This is why all hearse drivers should carry Robitussin (TM) with them. Nothing else will stop the coffin.

Not only the coffin, but the subsequent CONGESTION....
