The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh my, will be thinking of him and hoping for a speedy recovery!

We made it home from San Antonio safely... eyeballs got poked and peered into, and we had some goooooood TexMex before we left.

My earlier prognosis on Gerber might have to be upgraded several notches. After a slow start, emails were exchanged, and I talked to a manager there today.

It seems Gerber has its own low-profile, company-supported, troop support program. He visited our site, and decided we were the real thing, and was impressed with our efforts.

I don't have any numbers yet, but it appears we can have access to their entire product line. I can see a definite use for the LMF II, multi-tools, and the Ranger four-color LED flashlight.

I also learned a bit about the light that's not in the packaging. The blue "fluids" light is actually a "blood light". It was put there at the request of Navy SEALS because blue light shows the difference between mud and blood at night.

Also, the second-generation light will have a NVG-friendly color filter, too.

Please continue your prayers for our troop-support project. It looks like we're going to take another giant step in our ability to help our troops.

Evening all - Ramius is holding steady at last word, still waiting on the doctor to read his CAT scan tonight, hoping it shows that there are no other internal areas of infection that need surgery. Hopes are that the IV antibiotics are all he will need to get it under control. He could get really sick in a hurry if it doesn't get under control.

My dad and I think this is very similar to a glandular infection I had a few years ago that went a little nuts and is hard to get to with antibiotics. I felt better right away once I got in and they opened it up, but I was on the antibiotics a long time before they were sure it was dead.

Does this mean discounts? or better yet, are they willing to gift us anything?

I certainly hope the doctor doesn't have to do surgery, but if that is what it takes, then here's to a speedy recovery all the way around!

Keepin' him in my prayers.

Thanks for the update, chica.

I hope the CAT scan shows that this can be solved with a whole lotta drugs and no surgery.

It's nothing compared to what Ramius has, but my danged foot cracked open again. The left one. In TWO places. Nearly down to the meat. The right one is about to as well.

I have them slathered with hydrocortisone cream and wrapped in gauze and socks.

Sigh...just what I need right here before dealing with these chickens. I can hardly walk.

You're better off than they are... unless you have to run and catch them first ;~D

Just got back from Border's. Had dropped Clare off at 10 to meet some friends, then Joseph and I went back at a little after midnight. Folks had gotten numbers, and were lined up in batches of 50-100. Clare had messed around and hadn't gotten an early number, so she had 381 out of probably 400! ACK! We had to wait for an hour and a half for her to get the books! Fortunately, I remembered after she'd gotten in line that we wanted a street map of Tokyo. We got one that shows the major streets, but that's the best we could do.

Now we gotta get up early to get to a Girl Scout yard sale at 7:30. I'm dropping Clare off, then I'm going to Boston for some GS Leader training. I'd thought I might take one of the books, but Clare and Joseph might mutiny. I'll take the LOTR literature book I got for Clare today to read on the T on the way into the city.

Discounts, yes. Gifts, maybe. I wasn't going to push my luck on first contact.

Oh, and the flashlight is the Gerber RECON. I'm getting my R's mixed up.
