The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Apparently, I was a hurricane last year and before that in 1998. Those are the years of my children's births. Hmmm...

*sticking my tongue out at all of you!*
We are now officially under a hurricane watch. ~sigh~
It'll be a Cat2 when it hits. Mark my words.

It's moving really slow. 8MPH as of last advisory.
The water temp is close to "soup" because it's been so steamy hot lately.
If this thing doesn't speed up soon, it will strengthen more than they expect.
Andrew went from a Cat3 to Cat5 in a matter of hours just offshore from us.

Yeah, I can imagine I'll be carrying plywood tomorrow. The thing is increasing its latitude, the more she does that, the better I like it...appears to be centered in the central Tongue of the Ocean right now, a body of water 110 nautical miles east of here with depths of 13,000 feet, surrounded on all sides by water of about 12 feet.
There she is on current Miami radar.

I'm not as worried about the wind as I am about the rain.
There is a real possibility that I'll be stuck in my house until the water recedes. It gets deep where I live because it used to be Everglades. :-P
And we'll have no power for at least 48 hours.
I want to get out, but it's too short notice to go anywhere really.

Satellite photograph of the Tongue of the Ocean, it's the dark blue body of water just east of the large island, Andros. The entire Tongue is something on the order of 60 plus nautical miles in length. Have done some fishing in it at times in the past, it's legendary.
Next body of deep water over is Exuma Sound, then the open Atlantic.
