The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

     | Upon the hearth the fire is red,Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
 Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!
 |
      |
      | Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!
 |
      |
Home is behind, the world ahead,And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
Well wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Casual but comfortable. That's why I love Fridays at work.

We can wear jeans (*gasp!*). It's a beautiful thing to be comfortable at work. I'd swear it makes us more productive and happier.

I think that's why the company allows us to wear jeans every day during year-end, the most stressful time of the year for us.

They've probably figured out that it lessens the stress enough to justify chucking the dress code for a month.

My office has gone pretty casual, but I occasionally have to do the suit and tie thing. I did it every day for year in campaigns and in DC. I got used to it. As long as the shirt fits and the tie is properly tied, it's not that bad.

Suits seem awfully hot, though. Ugh. That would be what would bug me most, I think.

On the other hand, I'm hopin' if another brother gets married, I can avoid the magic underwear route. That combined with heels made for one of the most uncomfortable days I've ever spent. I don't wanna be bridesmaid agin...least not unless I magically lose twenty pounds or so, which isn't going to happen.

    So...wife is traveling...

I got home a little before six.

- switched over the laundry, started a new load.
- started the grill and cooked dinner
- unstopped a terlet (behold the power of cheese....)
- cleaned up from dinner
- did the dishes
- packed my lunch for tomorrow
- folded laundry
- replaced the front light bulb
- put Luke to bed
- updated my diet journal to send to thetrainer

That's true, I agree. The shirt has to fit. An ill-fitting suit can be awful. But if it fits right and hangs right it can actually be fairly comfortable.

I'm glad our offices are somewhat more casual though. Simplifies everything from laundry to buying clothes.

It's actually more difficult for me now because I have to have business attire ~some~ of the time, but can't be too casual the rest of the time.

In DC, I basically had 3-4 year round suits and a couple of summer suits.

All I had to worry about was what shirt and tie to wear. And Nordstrom told me that. ;-)

But that was before kids.

I'm watching the latest update on TD 12.

I don't like it one bit. They are already telling us to expect between 5 to 10 inches of rain.

~sigh~

The good news is that they don't expect it to be more than a tropical storm.

I posted it again with her name removed and then had them delete the first one.I figured it was something like that, but just wanted to make sure. :)

Yah... no fun to have to cover all the possibilities. I'm kinda embarrassed to say that I don't even own a suit right now. Probably should fix that.

I just made my annual clothes buying trip to the mall last weekend. It was excruciating. It wasn't difficult or anything... I just find malls to be excruciating places to be. Hates them we does. Burns us. :-)

Yeow! Thassalotta rain. That's too much. You should have them change the order and get a little less.

    Don't I wish!

And my area always floods out really bad. :-(

I could end up getting a day off out of it though. Can't beat that!
