I'm sure they did! They should be getting back late today. So...there's another call I can likely expect. ;-) I'm likely to have marathon phone calls from several fronts over the next few days, as I'm sure each of them will want to tell the whole story.
I also talked to Bilbo for quite a long time - he just got back from Scotland. Lucky.
It was tough for him, and he was pretty beat by the time it was done. I gave him 15 minutes TV time for being a trooper (that is on top of his usual earned allotment).
The first thing he did was put on his Superman suit and pop in the Superfriends DVD. That used to be one of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons. Whatever happened to it?
More than once, I've waited a long time for opportunity to come along that I really wanted, and as soon as it happened, I got another opportunity within days.
I tried really hard to get hired by Intel here. I went on a lot of interviews, and as soon as I had accepted another position with someone else, I got the call from Intel. In that case, though, I actually turned down Intel for the first offer. At the time it was better for me. But I know how it is to go from nothing to too many in a hurry, and that's a pretty good position to be in. Don't close any doors yet!
Ah - thank you. I understand now :~D
No kidding. Ugh. When I hear those words from my supervisor, "I'd like to meet with you for a few minutes when you have a chance..." I know it can only be about one thing.
~Sigh~
At least I can still read all your posts without it registering much time on the internet. But if I try to actually post messages and carry on conversations and interact, forget it. Sorry for the rant, it's just really annoying...I miss you guys! :(
The only one I closed was for a company based in Cheyenne that wanted a hardware person to do house calls replacing fried motherboards and such. They contracted with big companies like IBM and such. I'm sure the money for that sort of thing would be good, but a) I hate hardware, and b) I don't like driving to new places all the time. Woulda been a nightmare, so I said no thanks.
I felt bad at the time for turning down anything, but...ugh. Just makes me queasy even thinking about it.
~waves at Penny from out of the dark alleyway~
It would have involved a major overhaul to your comfort zone, that's for sure!
Thank you for not asking me to draw a picture...
I will say, though, it's awfully nice to be able to have Mondays off...I'm getting ready to head up to Mt. Si for an afternoon hike. Who knew the weather would be so nice again today?
Tomorrow, it'll be back to the dungeons... :(
How are the ponies?
And a new vehicle, prolly. And if they didn't reimburse milage, the pay wouldn't have mattered.
And I really, really wouldn't want to have to drive to the Cheyenne area all the time in the winter. Bleh. Granted, it's only about an hour away, but over flat ground like that, I imagine any snow at all becomes white-out conditions pretty quickly.
The ponies are very fine.... been doing a lot of riding lately!
Heyyyy.....I just remembered my old password.
Hey howdy there! :-)
Reading departure signs
In some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been...
[sigh] Well, time to change my lattitude again.
[sip] And my attitude. :-)
Hey Pen, nice to see you even if just for a while.
My biking seems to have hit a plateau, but I'm working at it! Looking forward to cooler weather so I can bike home after school when I feel like it.
If we couldnt laugh we just would go insane
Where are you and where are you going?
I was once trying to walk a user through a password change. She needed a new, unique password, and her two attempts failed because they had been used already.
I asked her to think up a third password, and she became totally unhinged, and said, "how can I think of a third password? I only have two kids".
Oh man...that's great! Too funny...
Do did you tell her she'd have to have a couple more, or else adopt a few?
At Sea-Tac. Heading for SFO. Again.
This week my HappyHappyJoyJoy time of Sarbanes Oxley begins for this year. :-P
Never before has any voice dared uttered the words of that tongue here, in the Hobbit Hole.
