The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Fortunately a travelling band of gypsies arrived at just that time and sold him a case of Dr. Wildebeast's magic elixer and talcom powder.

No plot? No problem!
I haven't got one yet either. Should try to come up with one in September. Maybe about a frazzled grad student.
Whew, almost done here... I can come home soon maybe...

I had a brainstorm during my last business trip and started outlining it:
Heroine is trying to buy the awesomest-shoes-ever online only to find the only website with the shoes has been hacked. Furious she googles the guy and finds a bulletin board where he posts and boasts. So she goes to the library (anonymous public computer and all) and posts a scathing little note to the guy. When she signs it, she makes up a handle. Unbenownst to her it happens to be the handle of a notorious domestic terrorist-type (identity theft to fund vigalente groups).
The FBI meet her at work the next day... and the terrorist is gunning for her, too! Whoops.

A sprayground is a playground where water sprays at you from various fountains. You probably don't want to read this story.

If the FBI's lead investigator falls for her, it would make a good romance.

You probably don't want to read this story. You know, sometimes you have sort of this sick, twisted side to you.
I'm lovin' it.

A gypsy princess has designs on his fabulous wealth (she's the dark and stormy type, also)...

You'll be complaining about your job by November.Gosh, I hope so. I'm really, really discouraged at the moment, considering even the retail people have basically said "If we reallllly need someone, we'll let you know."
I suppose there's always McDonald's...but...ew.

I should go ahead and 'fess up on this.
I hired a personal trainer last night. He does a complete program with a bit of a different approach than you'll get in a gym. But he'll also put together a nutritional program and monitor other progress.
Last night was just the intro. Monday a.m. I go for a full assessment.
I've just come to the realization that I'm not gonna accomplish this on my own.

Heh...you've been reading Evanovich, right? Not that that's really quite the same sort of thing...but from the one book I read, I can kind of imagine shoes being part of the plot. ;-)

The profiler's temporary name is Agent Hot Stuff (at least until I come up with a real name).
The FBI determines she's not the bad guy and she agrees be 'bait' to help the FBI catch him. I think the Terrorist is going to go ga-ga over Heroine which will throw the profiler for a loop - the terrorist's motivations change and he becomes less predictable. Terrorist views her as a worthy opponent (she challenged him) but also something he lusts after and wants to destroy. I'm sure he had a difficult childhood.
