The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

LOL!!! That's funny! Matthew loved it.
He's got one more, but it's not loose enough.
I'm so proud of him. He really does take care of business.

I had a much better bike ride today. I think it's because Monday and Tuesday, I had a bagel before leaving; today I didn't eat. Is that counterintuitive or what?

I think your tagline refers to Douglas Fairbanks, and was heard in "Blazing Saddles".Yep... in fact, they are the last words of Hedley (not Hedy) Lamarr, played by Harvey Korman. We watched the movie last night on one of the movie channels. :)

Well, the Lazy E and I have come to a parting of the ways ... their idea, not mine.
Ah, well ... I can clean up this house now!
Question, y'all ... if they offer you wages in lieu of notice, is it a Reduction In Force?

So sorry Rose.... really sorry. I sure hope it's a short-lived setback and you find a job as soon as the house is clean!
I don't know what you mean by your question...

Thank you, Suzi!
As you can see from my previous post, it's a done deal ... we move forward from here.
It's peculiar ... I'm relaxed, sorta. Time for the next Big Thing ...
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, if I sign a pretty paper, I get 2 weeks' pay in lieu of notice.
And I believe there are a few other sharing my fate.
Dunno ... this feels like a teeny-tiny li'l layoff ...

Looks like a Very Good Thing I bought a bike. Just located my class schedule; my Tues/Thurs class is, basically, a mile from The Ugliest Building. MWF is in The Building. Gonna have to get a campus bike permit on Monday, I do believe.

Dunno ... maybe.
I once swore I'd never move again ... but, like Sean Connery, I have learned to "Never Say Never" ....!
We'll see what shakes out ...

Well, they do a pretty good job keeping things clear. And we don't have too much snow before Christmas, usually. Fortunately the 7 bus goes near that building so I can ride in mornings if I want to.

You left an "l" out of "complaining". Bite me.
Nothing personal. Someone needs to die and I'm not being selective.
I left here at 11:00 a.m. for a 12:00 noon dentist appointment. With walking to the parking garage it would normally take about 45 minutes.
EXCEPT, today they were having a fire drill in offices attached to the garage. So they weren't letting anyone out of the parking garage. I sat there for 45 minutes and gave up. Had to cancel thedentist.
You know, I remember 9/11 and I can be inconvenienced for emergencies. BUT, there are around 500 people in that building. There was ONE "emergency" vehicle there. This was a drill.
In related news, the pool member said it was best I was leaving due to my hostility. Bless her heart.
I'm not responding....yet...
I need a vacation.
