New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Heading home. :-D
Ruthy! I never!
Ruthy! Since when do you lose control like that??
Yer freakin' me out...my world has been stood on end.

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
I went to the store the other day. I was only in there for about 5 minutes. When I came out there was a city cop writing out a parking ticket. I went up to him and said, "Come on, Buddy, how about giving a senior a break?" He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.
I called him a name. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So I called him a worse name. He finished writing the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket!
This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote!
I didn't care. My car was parked around the corner and this one had a "Hilary in '08" bumper sticker on it!
Now that I'm retired, I try to have a little fun each day. It's important at my age.

*snicker*
BTW, someone pointed this site out to me on another thread. Another troop support effort kinda like ours - I dunno much about things, but I thought it was interesting!

Hey, those bore snakes are nifty. I've got one and I use it all the time. It's handy at the range to quick and easy run through after every box of shells or so.
Uh-oh... now what?
From what I understand with the limited information I have been have been given, Steve doesn't have the hours to graduate. Well, he's got the required number but you have to have 6 hours in the last year. He only has three. He has to take three more hours this fall to graduate in December.
I am just sitting here like I've truly been hit by a train.
The thing is, I guess he can sign up for the hours (they CAN be thesis hours) but still finish his thesis within the next few weeks. He just won't get his diploma until December.
Oh, man...
BUT! It can be thesis hours. He WILL be done. And check with him - when you get your MS is not necessarily the day you 'walk'. It can be when you defend succesfully. So check. That would mean he could be all done in September just like you planned.
And his advisor must, excuse my French, just SUCK at the job. It's the advisor's JOB to make sure the student has met all the requirements and such. Steve should have been told to do the thesis credits over the summer.
Grr. Now I'm getting mad for you.
I thinking you're right...I've got an email in to him asking.
I don't care if he gets that paper in a few weeks or a few months, I just want him to come home.
True, but Steve isn't a big talker, not with me and not with anyone. He has to take responsibility to make sure he's on track too.
He just emailed me and I was right...he's done when he turns the paper in in a few weeks, then he graduates in Dec.
But what does graduate mean? Does that mean December is when they officially confer the degree?
Right. He'll pay for (cringe) and get credit for the 3 hours even though he'll likely be done before the fall semester starts.
It's a neat product, although on a 12 ga. it's more like a "bore boa". Still does a fast, thorough job.
The site it interesting, because they went through the trouble and expense of going the non-profit route. It also, I think, illustrates how more "sensitive" our own program is, and why it has to remain low-profile.
Just thought it was an interesting site just to look at.
And it's nice to know other people are thinking outside the box where troop care packages are concerned!
