New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Shouldn't there be something in there about "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like"?
It's good. If you were sending it in writing, I'd clean up some of the wording, but it will flow just fine when spoken.
Suzi sent me some tips via freepmail...I'm going to have Steve print it up for me and bring it home...
I'm logging off...gotta get ready. I'm extremely apprehensive about this and am very nervous. The word is out that those that want to change outnumber those that don't and it's because they want to join both groups. So we might have to change.
It'll just make me sick if we do...one more thing they've done to us. I suspect I'll still join for the sake of the egroup, though.
If that's true then switch without a big fight about it. In the big scheme of things, it doesn't matter.
just like a good private...
too subtle... yuh need tuh werk in a "blow it out their shorts" somewheres...
heh...
Glad someone appreciated that!
I had lunch with a good spectacle today. He lurks in (some of) those dark places now as well.
Then, got back to work and the Internet was down all afternoon. I actually had to do stuff...
If you don't want to get a tire pump yet, you could use the air pump at a local gas station. Sometimes (rarely anymore) they're still free. Usually they're like fifty cents. And you could do the tires on both bikes.
Oh, you got that new virus?
Just spent twenty minutes checkin' the firewalls. Managed to tell the router I wasn't allowed to speak to it. Some geek I am!
I dunno what happened. It was just down when I came back from lunch. Still down when I left at 5:00.
Hmm, if it was just the internet, maybe not the worm. Unless it got your servers and nothing else.
It's a vey big system. Everyone in my "organization" channeled through the same place. Could be they shut it down on purpose to avoid the hit.
Yeah, that's entirely possible. You'd think someone would have notified the peons, though. Sys admins *hate* users calling and saying "the internet broke, fix it".
Evenin' everyone!
I finally did it. I bit the bullet and ordered DSL.
Installation is set for Thursday morning.
I just can't take this crappy dial-up anymore. Especially AOHell dial-up.
Here's hoping I don't encounter ~too~ much trouble getting rid of AOHell autopay. :-P
I'll call my bank on Friday after the DSL is up and running.
WOO-HOO! Once you try it, you ain't ever going back, girl!
Cable modems are even nicer but if you've got a phone line, DSL is the economical route.
We did finally get a system message saying the Internet was down and that they'd let us know when it was back up. But that was at least an hour after I got back from a long (freep related) lunch. I have no idea how long it was down before that.
Good luck with that darlin'.
When we signed up for AOHell for Beach Week last year, it took me an hour on the phone to get rid of them. She kept saying "yes we'll close your account but let me tell you about this offer..."
I finally said something like "I don't want to hear another offer, I don't want more free time, I don't want AOL improvements, I don't want you to pay my mortgage, I don't want you to name your firstborn after me, I don't want you to paint my house, spade my dog, wash my car or balance my check book. There is NOTHING YOU CAN OFFER ME that will make me stay with AOL..."
I think we finished about 20-30 minutes later...
