The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...I caught a glimpse of Irene on the local news. Looks like we'll be out of here before she's any threat to us.

Shhhhh! Ruthy! This week Friday is not a good word!
Weeks gone by fast, but it's been a good week. Well, other than the algebra interlude. But that turned out okay.
Had dinner tonight at "Jimmy's Buffet." All you can eat seafood.
Gonna get up early and watch the meteor shower, then take the boys to go kayaking.
g'nite

Since you guys mentioned it, I remember a case of some guys harassing a shark a couple of years ago.
A friend of mine and a buddy were diving off Key West and saw a smallish nurse shark, around 6 feet maybe, on the bottom. The buddy swam over and pulled its tail, with the result that the shark turned aroung an bit off his nipple. They went over to the hospital, and had the wound sewed up, not too series, but the shark had swallowed the nipple.
My oldest and closest friend is a surgeon at Key West Hospital, he got the job of sewing the guy up.
Nurse sharks are considered harmless, but I guesss it doesn't do to go pulling their tails. Not exactly tugging on Superman's cape, but at least tugging on one of his poor relatives jacket.

At least he didn't lose anything useful or necessary, I guess!
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the ol' Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim!

Hi there! :-)
Did I tell you yet how stupid I am? Well... I'm pretty stupid.
I somehow let *both* of the managers in my group go on vacation at the same time. One of them is going to Tahoe for two weeks and the other one is going to Europe for three weeks. So... for the next two weeks it's just little 'ol ME and an unruly mob of IT staff, and then I get one of them back.
Good grief... time to get out the long knives: "You can call me with any problem you want-- as long as somebody is already bleeding."

Ow ow ow ow!
Yeah, I'd guess yanking the tail of a shark - even a small one - is not a super bright move.

See... there's the problem right there. No label on the shark's tail with "DO NOT PULL" in big red and white letters.
