The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh fer the luvva...^&**($&

I spent all that time on the help desk ticket, copy-and-pasting traceroutes and pings, and describing the problem in detail, hit "Submit", and now it's gone. It didn't actually submit.

I need a beer.

George W. Bush caused the Cubs to lose to the Marlins in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series so that Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, the Jews, and white men could oppress Iraqis.

Well, the good thing is, I'm not violently angry at her. I don't feel hate welling up in me or anything...just sadness.

So there might be some reconciliation someday.

But it's like I always tell my jedis...don't ever break someone's trust. Because once trust is broken, it's almost impossible to put it back together completely, certainly not without the help from the Lord.

I'm consoling myself with sweetened condensed milk. LOL! I poured it in my third quart milk bottle and stuck it in the fridge and now I'm eating it with a spoon.

It is amazing how truly fragile DNS services are. Of all the things on the Internet... that's one system that hasn't substantively changed since the original arpa-net days. The tables are prone to corruption and when they do... pow... down it goes.

That's why DNS servers are ~always~ listed in pairs or threes. They knew it was a flukey system from the beginning. Nobody then ever *dreamed* that the arpanet would get this big.

[sigh] That, and "64K should be enough memory for anybody". :-)

George W. Bush lowered taxes so that SUV owners and gun owners could kill The French.

Yep...it's a problem. You are absolutely correct. I just don't know what to do about it right now and don't know if I want to go through the effort of finding another church, especially if Steve is fixin' to get a job somewhere else.

But in the peaks and valleys of this whole situation, here's a peak...over 20 women have voiced a desire to be part of BA CHEF. And there are two more "new" ladies interested too...you know, that's a GREAT number by any standard! Sure, it's not 150...but when you have 150 ladies, it's like the church situation...you don't get to know the majority of them!

I think women who are looking for the big group with the co-op will gravitate toward that one and the women (like myself) that prefer a smaller, more intimate support group will be drawn to ours.

For the first time in five years, I'm gonna know everyone in BA CHEF.
