I'm gonna second that little "if you can't trust the pastor, who can you trust" thing. It's one reason I've always been iffy about big churches, part of the pastor's job is to watch out for his flock and if there's so many sheep he can't pick you out of the crowd - that's a problem.
Have you written or phoned her personally? - apart from actions taken on behalf of the group? I think 2J and C need to have a talk, sooner maybe better than later, not as members of these competing groups, but as friends. What do you think of that?
Well, I sobbed through the entire meeting with her husband sitting right there, so it's possible she has an idea. But it wouldn't surprise me if she didn't, they're very focused on themselves right now..."Why is everyone mad at us? Everything we did was bathed in prayer!"
I felt like a fool, but I couldn't stop myself!
Well, see...I tried to. That's when I finally decided not to have anything to do with that new group. I told her I didn't know what to do, that I had misgivings about the way the new group broke off (taking the money and all) and she said "If you have misgivings, you probably shouldn't join." and her voice was so condescending. Then she said "You know the group isn't a democracy...the leaders decided and that was that."
I hung up the phone and I was just shocked.
Either you have a lot more restraint than you've let on, or there were no box fans in the room. ;~D
Well, she did say that part about the bathed in prayer business...but I was mainly expressing her attitude. They are completely guiltless in their opinion and because so many people followed them (many didn't realize there was going to be a BA CHEF, because they SAID there wasn't) they feel vindicated.
And the leader that all voted to break off from BA CHEF were all hand-picked by the president. The president being the only elected person. And Celeste was one of them.
Boy have we learned a thing or two...this should never have been allowed.
I dunno 2J.... Most friendships are worth a few attempts to set them right again, even if it feels like the one who was wronged is making all the attempts to work it.
I don't know if you can separate C the group leader, and what one group has done to the other group, from C the friend, and what she's done to your friendship.
Ar you online now? Can you remind ecurbh how to do a traceroute? As you might have noticed from the thread graphic being down, our web server, and the-hobbit-hole.net is down, and ecurbh is trying to figure out what's up with it.
Hi... just got here. [sip]
Traceroute is: tracert [addy]
Like: tracert 10.10.1.100
doing a tracert /? shows some flags to set on it.
Hmm... I'm not getting name resolution for freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net
Yeah - it's dead, Jim.
Thanks, got it. Working on a help desk ticket right now. I think something DNS-ish got fubar. Can't ping either the Hobbit Hole or our personal blog, but the other domains I have set up work fine.
Well... the Internic whois show your domain is still paid up through 06. But the DNS servers listed for the hosting company are dns1 and dns2.noc-servers.com, apparently in Vancouver, WA.
If I do an nslookup and change the server to your dns server at your host, they do not have the name "the-hobbit-hole.net" in their table. No resolve.
My suspicion for the moment is that DNS at your hosting company has gone walkabout.
Ah. Very well then. :-)

It's a sinister plot by W and Rove to embarrass the Democrats. [sip]
Middle Earth smilies Some of these are awful darned cute.
Heh...I rather like this one:
Heh, that's what it's looking like. Hopefully they can fix it ere long... not only is the website down, but email can't get through either.
BTW... my host is in FL, the Vancouver, WA address is for a Whois privacy service. Their name and address gets listed in Whois instead of mine, and they forward legitimate mail or email to me.
Ah-- good thinkin. :-)
