New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Not good in my opinion. You know Andrew is Celeste's husband and Celeste I guess is to me like Sonya is to Hair...or was. Well, it apparently got back to C and A that Big CHEF consulted a lawyer about the embezzlement issue. They hadn't, "really", the Big CHEF president just happened to bring it up with a friend of his who was a lawyer and the friend suggested that CHEF just drop it and let the other group go and hope that they do the right thing as far as the money is concerned.
The new group sent out an email with a form on it that if you want your money back, you have to sign it. Well, this hacked a lot of the people off at the CHEF re-organizational meeting last night because they thought when they signed up in May that they were signing up for one group and now another group has absconded with the money and are making people ask for it back. It's offensive. Andrew just shook all over but kept explaining that the new group would "do the right thing" and make sure the money situation was handled right.
All I could think was that they were asking us to trust them and I, for one, had very little trust in them at all after what they did. Thankfully, I had not yet paid either my Big CHEF dues or my BA CHEF dues and don't have to deal with any money situations. Praise the Lord, that's all I can say.
It's so sad, because most of the membership went with the new group because of what it could do for them. Like sheep, they just followed without looking at what that leadership did morally. But I'm happy to say that the ladies that stayed behind and are re-organizing are some of the finest sweetest ladies...including my friend that owns the peach orchard and where I got all my peaches for all that jam. She sat beside me with her arm wrapped around me because there were times I was really broken up.
I keep thinking about the last time I spoke to Celeste and she told me they knew they were doing right, because they had "bathed it in prayer". I thought to my self that a spade may not like being called a spade, but bathing it in prayer isn't going to change the fact that it's a spade (barring some miraculous transformation.)
Theft and betrayal are just that, no matter how much prayer you bathe it in...barring a miraculous transformation. For our part, I guess that's all we can pray for.

I'm ready for vacation already.
I need a weekend!
Never underestimate the power of a rumor mill. You can cause big things to happen by just talking about talking to a lawyer. It helped us get our house built!
Theft and betrayal are just that, no matter how much prayer you bathe it in...
*sigh* (((hugs)))
Good morning!
I wish I was at the beach, watching the sun come up. Used to do it lot when I was a kid...with my folks when we rented a beach house and then later when I'd spend the night on the beach with my friends.
It was peaceful.
I hate churchy-jargon more than anything. It's usually a way of saying 'don't you dare criticize me, I'M a good Christian, what are you?'
People who have HUGE egos. They build their careers, fortunes, and reputations on not being wrong - ever. One of the contributors of scientific revolutions is simply letting a generation of adherents to die off in order to make room for fresh ideas.
This is one of the reasons I chuckle at people who point to scientific studies and say "Here! Look! Truth with a capital Tee!"
Well I'm ready to go right now although we won't get to the beach until Monday.
I'm stuck here doing icky paperwork that I've put off for too long.
You leaving for the Cape on Thursday?
Yep...the ol' rumer mill has done some damage for sure. The person that told C and A about it is a member of my church, so is C and A, Andrew is a deacon in our church and Celeste is in a leadership role in our church homeschool organization.
Now *that* group of people is fracturing...
We're talking hugh numbers of people fracturing...150 families in the support group that split away and about 80 families in my church that may or may not belong to both groups.
It's awful, my FRiend and the worst thing I've ever been a part of, second only to the situation with my mom.
My eyes were nearly swollen shut when I went to bed last night.
EXACTLY!!
Sis, you are wise beyond your years. You nailed it.
I'm avoiding icky paperwork! (Cantcha tell?) *grin*
I really wish I could go with you...
:-)
Sounds like an opportunity for your pastor to step in and get to work. In fact, he might be a good person to talk to if you have that kind of rapport with him.
I think you're navigating the crisis extremely well. Pray, hope, and don't worry! We luv ya bunches.
Precisely what I said to Rosie earlier (though since neither of us were on caffeine yet she may not have heard what I think I said)
Plus - follow the MONEY! Why do you think AIDS, global warming, and other big button issues are politics rather than science? Cuz there's money in it.
Well, actually, I'm just a cynic. Spent too much time in churches that used jargon as a youth. I swear, if I have to sit through another group prayer session where phrases like "hedge of protection" and "spirits of _____" are thrown around, I'll scream.
I like the sentiments behind them but people use churchy phrases to keep others out, to keep from actually thinking about what they're saying, and to make themselves feel churchy.
Thanks! I do really appreciate it. The vice-president of big CHEF said the same thing to me last night...he gave me a big hug and told me I had handled the egroup situation well and tactfully.
I'm at peace, because I formed my decision about what to do by Celeste's own words to me, not by rumor...but it still makes me so sad because she hurt me as my leader and as a friend.
And everyone pretty well knows what I'm going through. I'm known as "Celeste's Sidekick". Celeste was the leader and I was the one that did the nitty gritty work, you know? I was the follower and once the leadership told me what to do, I would do it with all my might.
It's like Celeste said to me "Here's what we're doing, here's what you are supposed to do." and I paused and said "I don't know if that's right..." and she said "Fine, get lost."
Heh! I know what you mean.
But you know me well enough that when I go outside and pray a hedge of protection around the Black Hawk flying over, I MEAN BIDNESS! That prayer is coming from my toes.
:-)
