The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Celeste and I joined BA CHEF at the same time...and I looked forward to us watching our kids graduate together. (CHEF has a full-blown graduation ceremony...Tom Coburn is supposed to speak this year.)

Every time I think about I just cry.

You can get pinkeye from even a grain of sand or dust getting in your eye and causing infection. It is easier to get if you have contacts.

Those eyedrops will clear it up in no time.

I just don't know what to say about the situation with Celeste.

I know it.

I just can't hardly stand more heartache. I gotta forgive, I know...

Matthew is her son's only friend. No kidding. The kid is like a savant...absolutely brilliant in regards to politics and the Bible...but sits around (at age 10) singing Winnie the Pooh songs to himself. Matthew is very protective of him, won't let people tease him, reminds them that they should wish they could be so smart.

I can't see isolating myself from the family, if only for the sake of that child.

Matthew turned 10 years old yesterday. I got involved in CHEF when he was two. Joined BA CHEF when he was four.

Just to give you a time line, so to speak. We've been involved in this organization for a long time.

It's a full fledged scouring alright!

I do understand how you feel. I was very upset when all of you were fighting... But we all came back around, all those who were really here for the right reasons. :~D

Wow! Talk about upheaval. I wonder if your friend acted on misinformation? I am sure she thought what they were doing was right, or she would not have participated.

From what you have said, it appears she did not forsee losing you as a side-effect. I think she probably feels horrible about the end results. She is probably just as upset as you are about the possibility of losing your friendship over this.

I'd assume that too.

That's right...that's why I wanted to put the analogy. It's hard to describe the emotions that are going on.

It's not over for me, though...I gotta first turn that new egroup over to someone in the new support group and then I gotta boot out the people who didn't sign up for BA CHEF from the old one because the rules state you must be a member of BA CHEF to be part of the egroup.

I would have had to have done that anyways...at the beginning of the year I would remove any member of the egroup that didn't sign back up for BA CHEF...but this is gonna be harder because they signed up for BA CHEF, but are now part of the new support group. I'm wondering how I'm going to figure it all out.

Well... If you start the new group, just don't carry any members at all over. Have everyone sign up new, and make it clear that they should only ask to join if they are in BA CHEF.

Oh yeah, she's real upset. Last time I talked to her, she was sobbing on the phone. That was before I found out she was an instigator and before I realized what she'd done to me as far as the egroup.

I can't help but hope she did this with all the best intentions. But I hope she sees the error and it would be nice to hear an apology. (Other's have.)

I think a lot of my opinion of her will depend on that. I can see a complete repair in our friendship if that happens. Although we made remain friends after this, if she doesn't see the error of what she's done, I doubt I'll ever have the fullness of friendship I had with her before.

That's right...the new egroup is not going to be any of my concern. Out of courtesy, I'm going to tell everyone in our old egroup about it, but then I'm transferring ownership of the group to someone else. Probably the leader of their membership committee.

On a brighter note...

Joshua told me he wanted to get Matthew "Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith Xbox game" for his birthday.

FIFTY BUCKAROOSKIS

I told him if he could count up enough money, we'd get it...and I'd chip in because the tooth fairy owes Matthew money. LOL

So Joshua counted out all those one dollar piles of change...he had $20.

Then, Matthew opened the card from my folks...another $20!

So I pitched in the rest and he got it. It's from me, my folks and Joshua.

Matthew said it was the best game he'd ever played. LOL He was pretty happy. It's got cut scenes from the movie.

Whatta mess! You know, I didn't join any homeschool support groups when the kids started h/sing, mainly because I didn't want to get dragged into stuff like this. I didn't need anyone's support as far as my decision was concerned; I knew what I wanted to do. And I didn't need any help with curriculum because I'd read enough to know what I wanted in that regard as well. It helped that Clare and Joseph were the younger two, and I'd been through the high school experience with Paul and David, so I knew what needed to be done, curriculum-wise.

Having been involved in the PTA at two different schools, I'm painfully aware of the problems of dealing with different people and their foibles. Heck, folks had to put up with ME as the PTA president for two years!! But folks must have been able to tolerate me because we got a lot of stuff done in that time.

Well, it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. This is my circle of friends, my social structure so to speak...and I have the feeling there's a lot of confused and hurt ladies out there.

Celeste did tell me she thought this would be a simple procedure and had no idea it would be so traumatic. My unspoken response is "I coulda told you so...but you didn't think enough of me to ask."
