The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I almost forgot... we have a new IKEA store here in Frisco. It's grand opening was 3 days ago.
To: Peanut Gallery
That's furniture, right?
Have you been there to look at their stuff?
To: Corin Stormhands
You used to have a poster with the blueprints for the Enterprise...didn't you? Hah, no, I had a book witht he blueprints...

Well....at least PV still equals nRT. Ideally.

It's furniture and other housewares too. I have not been there yet. Might venture forth today. From the catalog we received, they sell some interesting things.
To: Lil'freeper
Movie's over....have to start doing something now.

Something like that - it's still in a box of books in my mother's cellar. I do have Karen Fonstad's Atlas of Middle Earth on the coffee table, though.
To: Peanut Gallery
Oh they do sell sell sell. Take the kids, there's things for them to play on. And go hungry, the Svvvvvvedish food is mighty good!
IKEA is a guilty pleasure.
The furniture is often not worth the price, however. And it is designed for a European sensibility.

Mornin' everyone.
I'm off to the store in a minute here.
But first, coffee....

I just read in the paper that MA is having a tax free weekend on Aug 13-14! Woo Hoo! I don't have to buy school uniforms or anything anymore, and Joseph has plenty of dress shirts, slacks and ties, etc. for school. I'll find something, though, I'm sure!

Not that that's a bad thing, mind you...

I used to have a buncha CDs with Enterprise blueprints and other tech data...but someone gave 'me to me! I didn't buy 'em! I also had a book called The Physics of Star Trek that separated what was plausible science fiction from what would just never happen. It was actually a really interesting book.
Someone gave me that, too. I must have a reputation. *sigh*

In Vermont, all clothing under something like $110 (for a single item - if it adds up to that it doesn't matter) is tax free all year 'round. Vey nice.
Of course, I did most of my shopping in NH where there IS no sales tax, so it didn't do me much good, but it's still a nice thing.

I want a book on cartoon physics. :)
WooHoo! Saw a hummingbird at the feeder. Maybe NOW the word...ummm - "humm"... will get out.
To: Overtaxed
I want a book on cartoon physics. :) Heh...that'd be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been done, either!
Yay for the hummingbird! You've been trying to get them to come for awhile, haven't you?
