The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Assuming Gandalf's fall from the bridge of Khazad-Dum to be 120 seconds long (IIRC), the Wizard's velocity at impact would be 1,176 meters per second (a little over 2600 MPH) at a point about 43.8 miles below the shattered remains of the bridge.

dude... you got too much time on yer hands...

I think Louise would eat almost anything, except the Hill's LD which she is suppose to eat (cause it's easier to digest). Yesterday she had dinner and then drank too much water, promptly walked over in front of the fireplace and threw up. While I was running to get paper towels and yelling at Gypsy to stay away from the mess, Louise walked over and finished throwing up all over the (very expensive) surge protector for the computer and printer. It started buzzing and I prayed hard I would not get electrocuted as I pulled it from the wall outlet. I took the surge protector outside and turned it upside down, and cat upchuck just dripped from the outlets.

It's dried out now, wonder if it's ruined? LSA

Eeewwwwww....gross!

Miss Cat has never barfed on electrical equipment and she's very good about getting off the furniture before hurling.

How's Louise's fur growning back?

OT - Louise's fur is growing back fast, all the ridge marks from the clippers are gone. Louise is now the 'velvet kitty'. She's more active than she has been in a number of years, LSA thinks it is the 'metacam' as well as the 'haircut'.

Good morning!

Welcome back, Suzi! Look forward to seeing your pictures!

OB...ewww! My brother had a cat that went one worse, though - barfed into the top of the computer monitor. Not good.

Corin - hope your vacation is off to a good start!

Jen and I are gonna go to a "medieval" festival today. It's likely to be pretty small, as it's the remnants of the first ever festival that got rained out in June while we were at Shootmoot. Still, may have interesting jewelry or other crafts. Worth a look.

Morning - Time will tell on the surger, we plan to plug it in to day, some time.

Weeding amongst the flower beds today. Beautiful day, 70's to upper 80's predicted. Quite nice out now.

Ren-fest, Longbows.. hmmmmm.

Morning!

Back from my walk and am having second breakfast.

Looks like the neighbor across the street is having some foundation repair work done....there's a garage sale one street over...several people washing cars. Otherwise all quiet.

I'm thinking about re-arranging the living room furniture...

Morning OT - inside today? You're burnin' daylight. :-) Raised Beds? Tree Trimming? Bushy Tailed Varmint Harassment?

ugh. I feel for ya.

Ben overeats and upchucks now and then. BC, my dilapidated old lady (18 yrs old), used to to that too. We told everyone that BC stood for Bolemic Cat.

Just long enough for second breakfast...still too early to crank up the motors. Don't want to be the first to shatter the quiet.

I need to get going, though.
