The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, the prefab fence panels from the Despot will run you a pretty penny. Maybe look into 'garden' fences. I think bamboo or willow screening is pretty inexpensive. Will try to find a source for you.

Huh! Isn't that interesting! Spose it would hold up? We don't get hurricane-force winds, but it would be broadside to whatever prevailing winds we do get.

I dunno. I plan to get some for my 'woodland' retreat I'm going to build next year. It's going to be a little clearing back in the trees in the back of our property. I'm going to need a few stragecially placed screens that look woodsy. My plan is to try this stuff out.

Just a thought. Might not work for ya.

I bet it would work in a situation where it was somewhat more protected from the wind.

my suit does at least have a nice little pair of shorts as the bottom

My sister would like something like that. Where did you find it?

('Tis a one-piece, no?)

Actually it's a really modest two-piece I found at a department store. I hate to call it a two-piece because the top comes all the way down, and even in the pool it doesn't seem to roll up. Much more modest than the one-pieces I was looking at.

I've never understood when people complain that there's 'nothing' modest to wear from the department stores. I've never had trouble finding shirts that don't make statements about my morals or whatnot. Of course, you have to look, and you won't find them in the juniors' department...

Land's End has the *best* suits for modest women. They're mostly mix-n-match so you can cover what you wish!

I was just ordering some stuff from deepdiscountdvd.com and noticed they're advertising Lost Season 1 - next month, $38 from them. Just FYI. Rosie and I may start a penny jar.

I've never understood when people complain that there's 'nothing' modest to wear from the department stores. I've never had trouble finding shirts that don't make statements about my morals or whatnot.

I know... I always managed to find plenty of skirts and suits to wear to the office, and regular pants. that aren't low hip huggers. So I know that, and you know that, but people like to complain....

Or maybe they'd rather dress their daughters in full wet suits... or maybe wetsuits would be too form-fitting... how about these? ;~D

I dunno about you, but I think that stuff looks HOT. (not hot sexy, hot sweltering) I'm only modest because I'm too fat... when I had the body for it, I'd wear a bikini. But since I don't.... I just don't go. I can't bear it.

In defense of hip huggers.

I dont' care for the skin tight ones, especially when paired with a skimpy top (and don't even get me started on thongs!).

But they are a godsend to short-torso'd women and, with a straight leg. are surprisingly thinning.

Dunno what the problem is. Traded voicemails with the purchasing dude this morning... he's trying to find out why the order didn't ship when it was 'sposed to.

Whattya do?

I really need it though... this one is really too polluted anymore. Needs to be wiped... but I don't wanna bother with that until the new one comes in.
