The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Might any of these be your culprit from last night?

The cat, as you can see, had a rather good night last night. At least, I assume they're his.... If they were Gidget's kills, they'd be eaten.

Ugh, if I ever resemble any character Goldblum's done, I'll have to redo my whole life.

Forgive me Bear, but this seems to fit today...

Rowlf:
You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em.
There's somethin' irresistabullish about 'em.
We grin and bear it 'cause the nights are long.
I hope that somethin' better comes along.

Kermit: (spoken): Yeah, I know what you mean...

Kermit:
It's no good complainin' and pointless to holler.
Rowlf:
If she's a beauty she'll get under your collar.
Kermit:
She made a monkey out of old King Kong,
Both:
I hope that somethin' better comes along.

Rowlf:
Ah, but what could be better than a saucy Irish setter
When puppy love comes on strong?
Or a collie that's classy, a laddie needs a lassie,
A lover and wife gives you a new leash on life.

Kermit: (spoken): Uh, Rowlf, was that a new 'leash' on life?
Rowlf: (spoken): Oh yeah...sorry about that.

Kermit:
I don't mean to scare ya, my friend, but I betcha
Come "Father's Day", the litter bug's gonna getcha;
Rowlf:
The urge is righteous, but the face is wrong.
Both:
I hope that somethin' better comes along.

Kermit:
Still, it's fun when they're fetching,
And agree to see an etching
That you keep at your lily pad.
There is no solution, it's part of evolution,
Rowlf:
The pitter-patter of soles,
The little feet of tadpoles!

Kermit: (spoken) Ah, Rowlf, tadpoles don't have feet!
Rowlf: (spoken) Oh. Sorry about that.... 2, 3, 4!

Kermit:
There's no limitation to mixin' and matchin'
Rowlf:
Some get an itchin' for a critter they've been scratchin'.
A skunk was badgered the results were strong.
Both:
I hope that somethin' better,
I hope that somethin' better,
I hope that somethin' better comes along!!!
Rowlf: Beep bop bidder da dum dum bum bum bum!

Rowlf: (spoken): It's not often you see a guy that green have the blues that bad!

Hurray for the cat! Did he then proceed to bite their heads off?

Mr. Darcy-cat brings his catches up to the door and lets them sit for a while. A bit later we'll find the decapitated varmints nearby.

Oh. My. Gosh.

Maybe I don't need to pick up any mousetraps after all. Where did he leave them?

Two on the porch, one in the yard.

I haven't spotted any more around the yard... Homer sniffed at them. I think they depressed him.

Vinyl... that's like a cd, right? Only really big and you read it with a needle instead of a laser.

I tossed them before he could perform the beheading ritual. ;~D I have seen him do that, though I never find the head... only the butt end and the tail.

Well, after my close encounter last night, I left the cabinet under the sink open, just in case.

Poor Homer, I don't think he can handle the drama.

I love the picture...

Dad used to say the front porch was covered in MMC on particular mornings - many mouse carcasses.

Got paid. Need to make a soda/meat run and will be swinging past Best Buy to acquire some dvds, so if you want to come along, it'll probably happen early evening.

Also we should get another movie.
