The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It is here...gorgeous clear cool morning! Very nice for July!
I've already got one load of clothes on the line and one load is washing. Towels...they can go in the dryer. For some reason it doesn't nick holes in the towels...or if it does you don't notice 'em.

FR is a bit goofy this a.m. It's doing that "3141 of 3140" business again.

Yawn... I shall take your word for it. My own fault, I was too keyed up last night so I stayed up reading until 12:30. I meant to put the book down by midnight but it was sooo good and I had to finish.

By that time they should be out of the house with a job of their own. I won't have any say when they come in!

There you go.
Steve made a comment about my snoring last night...seems I snore like a chain saw. I told him that when I'm snoring he can at least be assured that I'm not pacing around in the house wringing my hands all night.
I sleep like the dead because of the cholesterol medicine. It doesn't even make me a bit woozy in the evening, but when I go to bed I *really* sleep! LOL

You know those nose strips, breathe-right or whatever? They often help snoring.
Either you don't snore often, or Steve's gotten used to it, but you might want to think about giving it a try....

*snort*
Local traffic just reported a truck hauling a load of crabs overturned on the Interstate. Don't think anyone was hurt.
But there was "a lot of debris as well as crabs running around all over the place..."

I'd consider it if it was a truck of crab cakes...

I snore all the time, but Steve sleeps deeply and doesn't notice it...most the time. When he does and if it's keeping him awake, he just goes and lays down on the couch. (I've said it before, our couch...though very old, is extremely comfy.) He doesn't mind, because he likes to read in bed anyways and I don't allow it. So he gets up,
gets his current book or the Bible, reads and goes back to sleep.
We've done this for years and it's worked well for us...still, I might try those strips...been meaning to just to see if they'd work...

Yeah, that's cuz you live where the crabs are. Mmm, one of the best meals I ever had was at a crab place on the Chesapeake... out here I'm not entirely sure people even know what crabs are.

Yeah, but I'm in the minority here for not liking to pick the crab mean directly out of the shell. People get a kick out of spreading newspaper and dumping out a bushel of steamed crabs, then passing out the wooden hammers...
Not really interested.

I liked doing that... brought out my inner cavegirl or something.
Gah, I knew this was going to happen, my advisor wants to meet next week and he's going to know I haven't really done anything... time to use coworker's "print out a two-inch stack of papers, read some of them, and say 'this is what I'm working on'" method.
