The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I loved the music in the 80s!
My first-year college roommate had a collection of punk, new wave, techno, etc. on vinyl. Was a real education for me.
I knew who Peter Gabriel was, before he had a hit in America...

I think it is important to be impressed by a vehicle that can move at Mach 25. I don't care who you are... that's still pretty stinkin' fast. :-)
I'd do it in a heartbeat. One of the astronauts once said the he'd still go even if the odds were only 50/50 of surviving the trip. I have to say that I would agree with that.
I'd go. Give me 50/50 or better odds of coming back... and I'm up for it. Just the decent chance of getting into space... and I'm there.

Me, too. Get me a seat by the window and I'm on. Would love to retire to the Moon.

Heh... I lost my [redacted] with [redacted] to "My Sharona" by this "new" group called "the Knack". They were a big hit in London and my g/f at the time came back from a summer there with a tape of their new "hit".
Seems funny now... :-)

I think we need to go back to the moon. Then to Mars. Build permanent bases there. Robots going there is nifty, but we haven't been there until we've left footprints.
Not because we need to, but merely because we can. That's why we must.

Holy moley... somebody just played "Do the Hustle" on the jukebox.
I had no idea that was legal. There should be some sort of law.

So did the other foot heal on its own or did you go to the Dr. before too?
To: HairOfTheDog
I got an antibiotic and a tetanus shot for the other one. The infection is mostly gone, but it sometimes still hurts and the wound isn't completely healed (but it's healing).
I don't know when this other one happened. I didn't notice until last night when my foot was swollen and it was hard to walk. I have a new theory that both happened in the yard when I was out watering the garden. Unless I'm mowing, I'm always wearing flip flops.
It's better this morning, having been off of it, but it's starting to swell again. And the bite looks nastier.
Still, there's nothing they can do except give me another antibiotic.
Well, that and yell at me for not taking my cholesterol medicine...

Ouch. Lovely. At least you won't need another tetanus shot.
Morning... yawn...
