The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Dude, there are no cobras in the mountains.

Now, rattlesnakes...

I think I had a dream with bishie wizards and stuff.

Exactly, Sophie was afraid to live and Howl was afraid to grow up. It was a really sweet little story.

Whatever it was, it was scary. Had a HUGE hood, but a rattle, too. *shudder*

I think I was a vulcan in my dream... I am not sure though. I spent most of it dreaming I was asleep.

You need to practice dreaming your dream self some heavy artillery. I suggest watching more actions movies just before bed ;D

Depends on which store, I suppose.

There are several in town, and some seem to have more...unusual workers than others. One of 'em...I swear some of the clerks typically have so much metal in/on their heads that they'd make vey good robots.

I only dropped my application off at the one that's more normal.

Yah...I had a knife in my dream, but couldn't figure out how to behead it without getting bitten.

Maybe my dream self just needs knife throwing lessons. Easier to carry a knife on a hike than heavy artillery.

Don't...*tempt* me, Talon!

Gah...we really need to find a range and someone to teach us stuff.

Do Vulcans dream of emotionless sheep?

Yup, the story worked because it wasn't all about Sophie fixing Howl, Howl had to fix Sophie too. It was sort of like that in the book but the book is more from Sophie's POV so it doesn't come across as well.

We wants it, Precious...

Actually we wants a scoped rifle, but that's beside the point.

I think the piercam is inoperative again. Hope it's fixed by the time we get there.

I want both.

But that's also beside the point.

Finished my cover letter, I think. Now to revamp the resume yet again.

Incidentally, if anyone would be willing to look over my cover letter and maybe my resume as well, please let me know via FReepmail. Considering how many times I've been turned down, and considering the latest-main-hope-job-I'm-applying-for bases it's decision solely on resume and cover letter, it can't hurt.

Have I mentioned I'm really, really tired of application forms and such like?
