The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm enjoying a turkey TV dinner in honor of Gerry Thomas.

God bless him.

Heh...get this...this is the person that bought the sprouter. Check out his "About Me".

He has no idea his purchase went toward the Hobbit Hole knife fund. I bet it would please him to know it.

Crockpot method.

I'm still getting used to dinner being generally at seven. We always eat at six at home...maybe five thirty or even earlier.

I suppose it's just 'cause it meant my parents could put us to bed earlier.

That and I come from a family of freaky morning people. ;-) Some exceptions, but Mom and Dad and I, at least, were always up early.

I got a call from the bookstore yesterday, by the way, asking me what hours I'd be interested in if they did hire me. Didn't actually get asked to come in or anything, but maybe I will.

The manager said she was just figuring out a schedule and might call me back. I think I'll but her come Tuesday.

And there's another intriguing job possibility. Another that requires a lonnnnnnng form filled out. *sigh* Going to call about that tomorrow. I am soooo beyond sick of job application forms and life history forms and background forms and demographic forms and personality profiles and all the rest of it. Ugh.

Yeah, we generally had dinner around 6, but I just need time to unwind in the evenings. And when it's hot out I hate eating until it cools off.

And you are a freaky morning person.

Hey, if it gets me a nice early morning job at B&N...it'll be a very positive trait!

I hope I hope I hope...

Actually I really hope for that other job, but we'll see. I tend to get my hopes up too much.

Heh...I was a reeaal freaky morning person in Oregon.....waking up at 3:30. For me, dinner is anywhere betweeen 6 and 7.

(crossed fingers) It doesn't look like it's going to get to 100 today. It's after 5 and we're at 95.

Hopefully some good news on the job front. Maybe you shouldn't tell 'em you're a knife person. :)

Why not mention it in your packing list?

Afternoon Rosie, sounds like a positive sign to me, being flexible on working hours will definitely be a plus in your favor.
