The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sorry to hear about the chickens. Bet the boys were sad... and you spent so much effort on them.

Whew, Sister and I had a good time. Got too much sun.

Amazingly, tenderhearted Joshua is handling it well. Matthew just seems more and more down as the day goes on. Kinda quiet and subdued.

I know some people (no one in the Hole of course, who knows the whole saga) would say, "Sheesh, it's just a chicken!" But it was his pet. He didn't have a bit of a problem scarfing down those meat chickens...they weren't pets.

Ok! The auction is complete! The Hobbit Hole knife fund will be getting $11.50 as soon as the transaction takes place!

Should I send an invoice? It offers that option.

Does there ever really need to be a reason to watch Highlander? *smile*

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, but I've been sitting over on one of those child-support threads (lurking).

I should just stay away from the woman-bashing threads, but it's like a train wreck you can't tear your eyes from.

It's a damn shame that some guys have gotten to the point that "all woman are evil".

The child support for my girls is voluntary. Even though just about everyone I know is egging me on to get the money garnished from his wages because he doesn't pay what and when he is supposed to all of the time.

Having a peaceful and civil life is more important than money. At least to me it is.

It would suck to have someone who resents you caring for your kids. And there sure seem to be a whole lot of resentful guys on that thread. Dollars to donuts, every last one of them was subject to a wage garnishment.

All that said, I'm gonna go to bed.

If the weather's nice I might take the girls to the zoo tomorrow. :-D

Nighty night!

I shall be quite surprised if anyone gets the reference. Yawn. Too much wine, I'm going to bed.

Some were seeking further amusement, so they paid and went into the zoo...

Good Morning, back from our walk and taking a break from watering. Things are dry but we're working on that.

Corin - Great looking pool party. I was surprised to see how big the community pool was. Maybe there will be more excitement next year.

OT-Gypsy girl waves paw and tells Miss Kitty to get well. btw, she enjoyed her 'leftovers' from lunch. She hopes that we go again soon. lol.

Hair, hmmm. trailride. thanks for posting the pics.

Hmmmm.......Gidget and Homer like the same kind of leftovers.

Have to talk to Miss Kitty's vet. Right now she's just glad she's not getting the ear goop treatment.

Good morning.

Sorry about my rant last night. *embarrassed smile*

Anyway, that pool party looks wonderful, Corin!

It's going to be way too hot here today to able to go to the zoo. I may just let the kids play outside in the plastic pool and I'll squirt them with the hose now and again. :-D

We've got heat advisory again today. Think I'll break out the pictures and start staring at them....so I can decide where to hang them.

I think planning indoor activities is a wonderful idea!

Holy moley, this has been a scorcher of a summer so far.

Yep. Indoor activities planned for today. Don't know what I'm going to do for lunch....don't want to heat up the kitchen and don't want to grill outside.
