The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh and no, we won't be getting any more chickens. Until these are all gone and then we're only getting two. It was never my plan to have six back there but Steve liked the fresh eggs coming in and talked me right in to it.

He'll have to wait till we get the farm.

But in the future we're never going to have more than two "pet" chickens again...the rest will be utilitarian.

Yet more knife emails...
Greetings, I was told of your knife giveaway by one of our deploying AH-64 (Apache) pilots. I just retired from a 36 year military career and am working with the National Guard during this time of deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. I would be very interested in receiving one of your Camillus/Becker BK2 “campanion”. Chances are it will end up in the hands of a deploying soldier. If my status does not qualify me that’s ok, but I think it’s a great thing you folks are doing. Many thanks
I recieved information about this site from one of the apache pilots in my unit. I understand that you have a givaway for the camillus BK2. If you have any left I would sure appreciate being put on your list. I'm sure that I'll be able to put it to good use. Thanks again!!

No problem! Managed to shrink it down to about 12 MB... download it here. I think the quality suffered a little, it seems more herky-jerky. Hard to tell though... ;P

Oh, and don't bother downloading that program unless you plan to make DVDs or VCDs... I found out it's not really that good for simple file conversions, like this one was.

ecurbh can play your version without any problems... so it's some issue with my puter that he's figuring out. It looks great, thanks!

Well, it's true that we have had pretty mild summers ever since we got 'em. It's been a couple of years since we've hit the 100 degree mark.

Steve's got the jedis out in the pool playing with them. He literally picks them up over his head and throws them into the pool. They love it. Trying to keep their minds off it.

It's 102 out there right now. ~sigh~ I dampened the sandy spot under the shrub by the shop where they like to hang out, sanitized and filled the meat bird's waterer and put it under there and that's where they are...but I've also prepared the boys that we might suffer more loss.

It's just unbearably hot.

We've got heat advisory warnings until 7 pm tomorrow evening. The weather weenies say a front is supposed to come through on Tuesday. I've got all the binds closed and all the fans going here. The thermostat is set at 78 and so far it's not running continuously.

SO you probably think we're real wimps for complaining about the heat we had when you were here!

Heh...I read it as blinds.

Isabelle gets picked on so badly by Puffy that I decided to isolate Puffy in the tractor for a few days if she does pick on her. She's just looks lost. She just sits. She's the low chicken in the pecking order and Rosabelle was really the only one that had anything to do with her. The others ignored her and Puffy pecked her.

She doesn't look sick, but I wouldn't be surprised if she died. She's pining.
