The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What's that south of Cuba?

And take a look to the lower right of this picture...

Hang on boys, it's gonna be a bumpy ride...

Well, it's not affecting our weather here yet, far as I can see. Least not in an easily observable way, like altering the prevailing easterlies. I imagine it will be by tomorrow though.

I think so far it's just one of those "mild" tropical storms (that are twice as bad as any storm we ever see here).

It hasn't been designated even a storm yet, it's just that it looks like it's developing circulation. Officially it is still just a wave. IMO, it's past being a wave though and on its way to a storm. The folks on the storm thread are freaked about it, but I don't think any of the real weather mavens are there yet.
I imagine the TPC has sent a plane out by now, will be interested in the report that it radios in. The apparent center is currently located off Cat Island, a place that has a beautiful song named after it.
The fact that it has an apparent center is one of the things that has my attention.

I think it would have my attention too...
But it's starting to spin awfully far west for it to build a lot of momentum, right?

National Hurricane Center just posted this...
A SHIP IN THE VICINITY OF THE STRONG TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED JUST EAST
OF THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS HAS RECENTLY ESTIMATED WINDS TO TROPICAL
STORM FORCE. SATELLITE IMAGERY AND RADAR DATA FROM THE BAHAMAS
INDICATE THIS SYSTEM HAS CONTINUED TO BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED
TODAY. AN AIR FORCE RESERVE UNIT RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT IS
CURRENTLY ENROUTE TO DETERMINE IF A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OR A
TROPICAL STORM HAS DEVELOPED.

But even with low humidity, there's no denying 104 is uncomfortable!

Is it just me, or did that form really, really fast?
Guess I could go check the thread and see what's up!

Wunderground is already calling it "Tropical Depression 6" but the National Hurricane Center hasn't updated to that yet.
Either way, I'm going home...
