The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I wish you were here...we'd drive over to Swan's Dairy (in your car, or course, since I don't currently have one) and sit out in the parking lot and swig ice cold milk and eat cheese curds.

Mmmm... you're making me hungry.
It was a terrible telecon. No one wanted to talk. So there were loooooon periods of ~silence~ - so long that I started punching buttons on the phone to make sure I wasn't disconnected. lol.

I gotta do something. I'm feeling down in the dumps. Eat chocolate and read a book in the sunshine.
Always perks me up.

No fun...
Urgh, some combination of not having biked in a week, carrying more than ever before in my pack, and feeling a bit lousy made the ride into work today miserable. Also it's already hot. Going to be over a hundred again today...

Put on a LOTR soundtrack, chica.
Focus on how much better things will be ASG and how much fun we're gonna have at RockyMoot next year.
And remember how much we love you!

Hmm, don't go to lunch until after the a/c breaks so at least you can have some cool time.... if you brought food you can just sit in your car.

I'm starting to wonder if the light at the end of the tunnel actually *is* a train.

I took kitty home and then went to work. She was meowing, wandering around her old environs, eating, and drinking out of her fountain.
Everything looks kinda droopy and the squash looks almost dead...but then they crap out in really hot weather anyway.

It was sure nice having you here! I'm sure you're glad to be home...
Any report from the vet about the kitty?
To: HairOfTheDog
Nope. Haven't talked to the vet yet...he wasn't there at 7:30 in the morning. She did get her tests done...at least I got billed for them. :)

One of our geekier residents has just published a graph via email of room temp/thermostat setting vs. time. Interestingly the room set on 55 has a temp over 80.
Some people just don't have enough to do....
