The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!
Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Let them go! Let them go!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

hehehehe....
Reminds me of the time one of my former boyfriends came to dinner at my grandmother's house in Chicago.
This is my dad's side of the family (Puerto Rican), so she decided to cook something special.
It was a delicious beef recipe and when Bob asked what is was, my grandmother (not able to speak English very well), just stuck out her tongue and laughed.
Bob put his fork down and said "I beg your pardon, ma'am. But I'm not accustomed to having more than one tongue in my mouth at a time."
LOL!

Too lazy to get up and change the channel and I can't find the remote. It was on when I got up. Steve left it on.

The difference is what I find so interesting. I just wanted it to be a little more punctuated! Usually there is standing surf out there that would be 10-15 feet... There were people out trying to surf yesterday, but they couldn't find a wave worth standing on ;~D

Good morning!
I want to give people who might not want to know the "details" the opportunity not to read it.

The water was a bit brisk so I didn't actually check out the undertow.

I'm hoping my own psychological issues are resolved...I was able to eat some of the gravy last night with very little effort.
My mind is willing, but my throat doesn't want to swallow.

Hmmm.... Well, I wouldn't have wanted to see the offing of the heads part... but once that's done... it's meat formerly known as a chicken to me. ;~)
To: Corin Stormhands
Yup, congrats on winning. And they actually got you the copy quicly instead of "wait six weeks and we'll mail it"?
I thought it was excellent though the two "mysteries" (who dies, who's the HBP) were a bit obvious. Shan't say more since you aren't done.

Nobody was more surprised than me that I couldn't eat it easily. I was so gung-ho to do this and I still think it's a positive thing.
But even though I joked around about their names, I still called them "Big Chicken" and "Little Chicken" in my mind and now when I'm biting into the meat I'm thinking "This is Little Chicken!" and my throat gets stuck!
Not to mention they're very dry due to being so lean.

Bah, should have stayed away.... but like I said, I thought they were obvious so it shouldn't spoil your enjoyment.

I don't know that I would have guessed correctly ahead of time. But by where I am now in the book I would have figured it out.
