The Hobbit Hole XXIII - Let them go! Let them go!

Posted on 07/12/2005 8:11:36 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Let them go! Let them go!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yes, I've known quite a few baristas who use it as a second job and are able to pull a Starbucks shift before their regular job. It will definitely help free up your time to go to future job interviews.

Mornings would definitely be the way to go, if you can swing it. Gets it out of the way so you can get on with other things the rest of the day. I hope this works out for you while you're waiting for your "real job!"

Right...a rotation is what I'd like to be doing. I think we could do it, 2-4 at a time, say, every three weeks like you say. Even in our back yard. There is no mess, because at the end of the day I spray all the droppings into the soil with the water hose.

My little pen will only hold 4 at a time, but half of them could still be in the little "cooplet"...you know? The one with the daisies painted on it.

Recognize the knife in the slightly graphic pic?

The sprouter I'm wanting to sell on ebay looks to be going for about $10. Mine is in perfect condition.

Sprouter

What do you think? Think I could sell this sprouter of mine to raise funds?

Yay...I have blueberries!

Went to the grocery I don't usually go to (it's a little pricier in general, though they do have a few niceties like bulk grains and such), and they had blueberries on sale for a dollar a pint!

Houston, we have a fundraiser!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4394421241

I've put that sprouter up for sale on Ebay...my very first ebay auction where I actually did it myself. Normally my little brother does it for me but he's apparently not speaking to me.

All proceeds will go to the Hobbit Hole knife fund!

I have an addendum to the shoooooooes of doooooooom saga.

A young lady of my acquaintance, whose portrait has graced these pages, has a pair of "Disney Princess" shoes which make (or rather, made) a "tinkerbell" noise when a magnetic wand tripped a switch. Vey cute.

Today we got cught in the rain, and by the time we reached dry land, the shoes had developed a fault and were tinkling unremittingly.

"Vey cute" became "Fie! Carp!" within about 15 minutes.

I have photographed and recorded the offending footwear, and will post a link as events permit.

IMHO, if they cause a sweet girl who loves showing off her Vey Cute Shoes into a mini-ogress who Abominates the Wretched Things, they must qualify as Shooooooooes of Dooooooooom. At least a Doomlet.

Whaddayall think?

Hi there - glad you had fun at MO-Jam-Moot!

We're here at lab moot, we just went into the pub and had some food.... everyone is a little tired, we're getting ready to do some relaxin'.

Probably pics will follow, but we haven't taken any yet!

Penny.... since Ramius is still in sick bay, we're gonna have to cancel Beach moot tomorrow. Since it looks like it's going to be a nice day, we may go tomorrow to St. Helens instead.... If you'd like to go with us, there'll be room in the car... we'll here leave early.

Puffy's got a short reprieve...at least until next weekend. I didn't fast her.

I don't think it's polite to laugh at anyone who has a bow and arrows in his hand ;~D

Puffy really never was a pet, though...she hurt Joshua on more than one occasion.

So I tell myself that she's a drain on resources since she's not a pet and she doesn't lay. I mean, that's the truth.

But I also don't like her. She's mean and a bully.

So I'm constantly assessing my motive concerning her and maybe I'm not quite sure that it's actually a resource thing yet and it bothers me.

So I'm in no rush.

Steve has no such animosity so he may take matters into his own hands...he just sees her as a non-layer.
