We're gonna process her some other time. It will involve isolating her from her feed and I didn't have a way set up to do that. I will by next weekend probably.
There's no rush with her, she's not likely to have a heart attack or have her legs go out from under her like these meat birds.
Best wishes to Ramius!!
Heh...now that you know how to do it, you can just decide "Hey, tomorrow I want chicken stew. Where's Puffy?"
Let us know how the chicken turns out tonight! Gonna rotisserie (sp?) one?
I think so...that's everyone's favorite way.
Gotta go 'fore I get caught...
;-)
Steve's vacuuming the pool. I can't stand up any more, my poor feet! I'm afraid wearing my chuck taylors without socks yesterday caused all the trouble (was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak...they were on the verge of cracking) and wearing them this morning, even with socks, irritated the injuries. So I've got 'em gauzed up and am wearing wool socks with another pair of thick socks over them and then my big fluffy house shoes.
Other than feeling worthless, I feel pretty content. It's good to have Steve home, for a little while. He's going later this afternoon to work on his paper. But we got to do that processing this morning and talk about the future and all.
We're optimistic! We've got sourdough bread and chicken to eat! As my dad says now and then "I wonder what the poor folks are doing?"
Life is good indeed!
I'm just thankful that the house sold for what it did. It means that I've been OK despite the difficulty in finding a job. Hey, I'm even able to buy some extra little things I don't really need, and when I go to the grocery later, I'm picking up stuff for the food shelf that our church is having a drive for - canned goods. Not only do I have enough, I even have spare!
But I downloaded a job application for Starbucks. Going to hopefully turn that in Monday, if I don't lose my nerve. I figure...it's likely that once I'm trained, I could work an early shift and be home to do more job searching by early afternoon. And there's one store that's easy walking distance or easier bike riding distance from here, and in the same plaza as Sunflower Market. I like that place... It's a natural foods kind of store. The selection isn't as good as Whole Foods, but the prices are often better than the normal grocery when it comes to things like fruit and chicken and vegetables and such like.
I'm still wavering. I probably will until I actually drop off the application. But I can only go so long without SOME sort of job.
It sounds like a fun job, actually! Just to keep an income coming in till you find a "real" job...
Steve went to Lowes to get some chlorine, the pool is low on it. I'm going to shock it and then he's going to take the jedis to the city pool. Decided to work on the paper tomorrow after church.
If nothing else, I should get free coffee. ;-) And supposedly they're a decent place to work for.
Mmm...pool...
It's vey hot. Haven't done much outdoors during the day for a long time. It's hard not to feel cooped up.
I realize one CAN go out when the temperature is over 85, but...
At least it's a dry heat. ;-)
I was just lamenting to myself that it's only 92 degrees out there...not hot enough to make yogurt in the attic! Gotta be over 95 degrees, I think.
Supposed to hit 100 here today. It's about 90 now.
I handle sub-zero weather better than heat!
mmmmm...chicken...
Heh...
I feel kinda strange because for over six weeks I've paid such close attention to them and now they're gone. Just kinda strange because of the loss of the task, you know?
I was hoping to already have four more but couldn't find anyone to in on an order with me and the feed store doesn't have any currently. They said they'd let me know when they had some come in.
Starbucks and REI are tops on my list for fun places to work. Good luck with it! I have heard Starbucks is a good place to work, and the baristas almost always look like they're having a good time.
Let's see how soon you can get some more.
Seemed like it went by quick though. From the time you got them to today, you know?
Six and a half weeks. Amazing.
I still have an REI application I never turned in. That's another possibility, for sure!
The one thing I do like about Starbucks is that because they are open so many hours, I could always rig my schedule so I could go to other job interviews and such.
I suppose the same could be said for REI, except that their extended hours only go into the evening, and I'm most definitely a morning person.
I suppose I could always turn in both applications. It's not going to hurt anything.
It'd be nice to have a rotation, wouldn't it? Like buy three or so at a time, and then another three three weeks later, so you always have some coming up.
Though...that's probably not practical where you are now.
