Hushovd got two points in the first sprint while Boonen and McEwen got none. Hushovd now only 5 points behind boonen in the fight for the green jersey. McEwen has already try to break away twice. Seems to be a tough battle brewing among the sprinters.
14:28 - Peloton Behind By 755"
As the peloton enters the feedzone (at the 103km mark) it is 755" behind Wegmann.
14:28 - Wegmann Currently Leading Three Classifications...
If Fabian Wegmann is able to maintain his current advantage of 650", he will end the day as the leader of three classifications. He has more points than any other rider in the climbing classification and will wear the polka-dot jersey tomorrow.
But at the moment hes also the virtual leader of both the general and youth classifications.
He began the day in 53rd place overall (343" behind Armstrong) and ninth place in the young rider category (230" behind Popovych).
Wegmann began his solo escape at the 45km mark. He is now at the 116km mark, 8'35" ahead of the peloton.
Wegmann is at the 125km mark, with a shrinking lead as Discovery leads the Peloton.
Seems like people here were right that Armstrong and Discovery want to defend the jersey.
I think he wanted to be in Yellow from the Prologue. Probably was pretty bummed when he lost by 2".
That said... Wegmann's lead is back up over 8 min. I think we have a German who really wants to win the only stage this year that ends in Germany. 91 km to go tho' - still a long way.
Perhaps Discovery is waiting for the sprinter teams to start doing some serious work....
I just saw a CA rider up front. Perhaps they are about to start.
Lucky you getting to watch... I think you're right, lead has fallen to 6:53 w/ 80km to go.
Make that 6:38 - Wegmann lost 15" in 1km...
My my my... 6:10 now w/ 78km to go - he's spent.
That's also because of the sprint....
Quickstep and CA were going for it. Hushovd against Boonen...
Boonen got it, but I felt the Quickstep rider that helped Boonen hindered Hushovd...
Of course - the sprint.
15:31 - Results Of Second Intermediate Sprint
The points for the second intermediate sprint in stage seven were won by:
1. Fabian Wegmann (GST) 6pts/6"
2. Tom Boonen (QST) 4pts/4"
3. Thor Hushovd (C.A) 2pts/2"
The peloton is now 600" behind the lone escapee.
15:36 - Davitamon Lead The Chase
The peloton is now strung out because of the rapid pace thats being set by Christophe Brandt of the Davitamon team. He has two colleagues with him and its obvious that the order has been given to reel in the escapee before the finish in Karlsruhe.
Wegmann is now 525" ahead of the peloton. (5:03 now...)
4.56 Now.
Discovery and Lotto riders seem to be discussing tactics at the front of the peloton.
