Because in their twisted little world the collective trumps the truth. PJ's nailed it with his ant farm analogy...DU is a perfect microcosm of the democratic-socialist world and a warning for anyone who thinks the world would be a better place if they were in power. In the larger world you have their attempts to rationalize away the greed and incompetence on display at their precious UN in the Oil for Food scandal and attempting to bury what they can't make excuses for that will be believed by the kool-aid drinkers (they don't even bother with us anymore the shrill rants they spew daily are to keep the sheep in the fold)...on DU the same thing is going on with Andyscam. If excuse 1, 2 or 3 doesn't work, it's delete, delete, delete. Meanwhile, they slather on and pat each other on the back about how wonderful they are for coming together...no one can take away the great things their commiunity did, how powerful they are when they're united, even if "some things could have been done a little better". Except little bits of the truth keep seeping out here and there and pretty soon there aren't enough fingers to plug the holes and the only way to maintain control is a dictatorship that cuts off communication with the "others".
These are the people Orwell warned us about...unfortunately for Will Pitt it looks like he landed the role of Old Major and poor Bev has to be Snowball.
"No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?" (Chapter 5)
"If she herself had had any picture of the future, it had been of a society of animals set free from hunger and the whip, all equal, each working according to his capacity, the strong protecting the weak... Instead - she did not know why - they had come to a time when no one dared speak his mind, when fierce, growling dogs roamed everywhere, and when you had to watch your comrades torn to pieces after confessing to shocking crimes." (chapter 7)

Well, I would be rather more comforted if the DUmmie "William Pitt" himself commented upon the matter, rather than having the DUmmiette comment on his behalf.
I mean, the DUmmie "William Pitt" is not exactly unloquacious.
By the way, are you aware that a certain nuisance is accusing you, sir, of being that nice guy who so conveniently showed up in DUmmieland about two months ago?
I caught a portion of a tv show last night that the premise was exposeing lies by 'groups'. They took on the 'environmentalists' and were debunking all of their claims of global warming. At one point the 'greens' had some sort of 'earth day' in Washington that focused on logging. The people doing the debunking had a petition to ban 'Oxygen dihydride' with the lady explaining that it was used in all sorts of poisons etc etc. They collected hundreds of signatures and the idiots who signed the petition never knew that they were for banning H2O, water. Same thing, herd mentatality. They explained it as a 'group join' type of thing.
Do you remember what channel? This is exactly the type of show I'd like to catch and buy the DVD of if they offer one.
Also, the approximate time and your time area might help me track it down.
Thanks!
Well, I don't know the show or channel. But, just to say, if you ever want to see same way-out-dummie tv, check out Dish Network's FSTV. 9415 channel, or close to it.
UGH!
They all remind me of Eeyore, of Winnie the Pooh fame. The gloomy little donkey. Hey I think I'm on to something!
It might have been on the comedy channel, I really don't know. I have DishNet and was just sorta surfin and found it. It isn't regular or weekly. If I see another episode, I will notify you.
Sorry this is so late in reply but my pings got buried by the DUfunnie pings and I didn't see this till this am.
Okay, thanks. I only have cable so I imagine it could be some real interesting channel I never even heard of. I was hoping it might be something like the Discovery channel since most of their shows are available on DVD.
Two seperate bowls, I hope. ;-)

So he does have cancer? I still have a hard time believing that. Maybe if they went about this in a more professional way, I could believe it. I hope Andy recovers but being sick does not entitle you to be above the law and use your plight for political advantage when you say one thing and do another.
Everyone is in a most peculiar situation, madam.
Let me give a little bit of "background" here.
In early June, it had been speculated that the red round one would go to the hospital--somewhere--because of a "relapse" of some sort.
Many on the DUmmie Alert! ping list got private freepmails stating this; it was easy to state because criminal behavior, especially when afflicted by a guilty conscience, is so predictable.
And that came true.
A couple of weeks ago, many on the DUmmie Alert! ping list got private freepmails outlining the peculiar position of the Andyites, versus those of us who believe in following the rules.
And this peculiar situation has now manifested itself.
Dang it, I'm better even than Barset.
I have also become extremely wary of anything written in a newspaper....especially a liberal newspaper. I'm not inclined to believe that Seattle reporter got a statement from Dr. Yeo (or whatever his name is). It was mentioned that it was a written statement. Did anyone check to see if it was faxed from a Kinkos in Texas? I know, I'm probably being too cynical.
I'm going to have to ditch the caffine free Coke and hit the Vivarin! I didn't realize this came from dirtyben. Now that I think about it, it could be the same situation as that other unfinished article about flyarm's hubby's boss. Somehow an ending paragraph got attached and posted......but NOT with the original on the web site!
Well, I don't see that the thing the dirty one quoted is on the online version of the Seattle Weekly yet, so I'm withholding comment.....although it should set off alarm bells, sirens, flashing lights, if any writer has some sort of close association with the dirty one; a close enough association that the writer "leaks" to the dirty one.
Hey, didn't the Andyites allege the surgery took place on May 25?
A lot of inquiring minds want to know.
Anybody remember?
