"This is almost as if God has spoken."
The Supreme Court is God to Nancy.
Won't she be surprised when she goes to meet her maker, and finds out it isn't the Supreme Court.
Thank you lysie...thank you Jane!
Chairman, hope all is well with you!
Credit John Buford for thwarting the first advance of the Confederates.

Lee probably should have continued to fight a defensive battle that Longstreet argued for.
It made no sense to march Pickett's division in the face of whithering fire, and outgunned from the surrounding hills.
Lincoln was angry at Mead for allowing Lee to escape, where they could have followed them and cut them to pieces.
I can understand Mead's thinking, but the prolonged war became costly for both sides. IMHO...
Thoughts?

Good morning lysie and all. I hope everybody has a fun weekend planned with barbeques and fireworks. Unfortunately I don't, LOL! Just a lot of sorting, organizing, cleaning....work, ick.
Can't be helped though, hopefully Sunday night we will be able to sit in our own back yard and see fireworks that are fired over at the country club a few blocks away.
Must get moving, have a safe weekend folks. Sam the hound dog does NOT like fireworks, btw...
Right on target.
Thanks Molly.
Well, isn't that typical of Carter? He NEVER thinks we can do anything except coddle dictators!!!! I am grateful we had only one term for that fool. Two terms and we might be typing in Farsi.
I'm busy here, too. We have lots of company coming this weekend, and there's cooking and cleaning to be done.
If I recall Shelby Foote's (RIP),comments on the battle, he related how the soldier's waiting to attack, saw a rabbit running away from the area. One of the troopers said,, "Run rabbit, if I was a rabbit I would be running too."
Foote also commented that it might have been more courageous for them to tell General Lee, not to make the charge. From my understanding Longstreet did argue the case for not making that attack. Perhaps Lee was beginning to believe the press reports on him.
Lincoln was angry at Mead for allowing Lee to escape, where they could have followed them and cut them to pieces.
Meade was said to be a VERY cautious man. He was not willing to risk it all. It was indeed an expensive price to pay for failing to take them out when they had the chance. There something to be said for holding back the troops in case they would be flanked and DC would be taken.
Our dog is terrified of fireworks, thunderstorms, and of hearing sHrillary's voice. These are the three things that are guaranteed to send her to the bathroom to try to hide, moaning, poor thing.
While I'm ok with fireworkds and storms, I also tend to hide in the bathroom and moan whenever Shrillery speaks...
Yes very typical of that sniveling weak-willed dicator lover. Now that my head had exploded....ping!
dictator lover
I shouldn't try to type and eat a bagel at the same time.
I want to play a little this 3 day weekend...weather supposed to be near perfect...so...will have to work extra hard today...
Can you tell I'm the descendent of Puritans?? Well, actually they become Quakers...dissidents from that body of people...
Toby, thinking of you this particular day.
Jane, I heard Pres. Peanut's comments too. Dreadful per usual for him.
Making progress here Molly. Next week....the dreaded basement (insert horror movie music)!
I'm planning a couple of weeks on that, then if it doesn't take that long I'll feel like we did very well.
Again LOL. Jaws music??? HA! Good plan on the time aspect.
Friday!!!!
The only REAL Bond, Sean Connery, of course.
